My most recent X-Caliber came in this Feb. I'm currently developing loads with the 6.5 CM 142 SMK. My previous barrel is a 6mmBR, 28 inch and it too shoots very well.
I used my Teslong to look at the new barrel when it arrived. It was my first opportunity to take a really good look inside the bore on a new barrel, and I have to say it was quite impressive. NO defects whatsoever, no railroad tracks, no cuts across the lands and grooves from chips in the drill during boring, throat very accurately cut, beginning of lands are all concentric indicating excellent alignment. Nice finish on the lands and grooves, simply beautiful!

They generally shoot pretty well. The lapping on them is not as good the top tier barrels with loose and tight spots. If you get them on sale they’re a good deal but they aren’t a top tier barrel like Krieger, Bartlein etc.

I have two. A 26” 260rem on a Savage and a 20” 224 Valkyrie on a AR15. Both are excellent shooters.

Mine is a 224 dia. 8 twist that I chambered in 22-6MM AI. I just got to do some testing and it is putting 80gr. Noslers inside an inch at 200 Meters and it only has about 40 rds down the barrel so far. I am happy with it, might just order a 6.5MM to do another 6.5X47 Lapua.
Tarey

My 28" 1:7 twist 6mm AR on the AR platform is shooting <0.5 MOA with a 107 grain Sierra. My only problem is a tight chamber requiring a small base die. It would probably not be an issue in a bolt gun.

I have one in 6.5x47L that's a hammer with the 123s and 130s, although it wasn't chambered by them. I do have another barrel of theirs that they did chamber but haven't put a round through it yet.

Like others said, catch them on their 25-30% off sales and they're a good deal. I don't know that I'd pay full price.

I have about four of their barrels, but bought them when the original owners and smiths were there and they have and are working great.
Don't know if quality is the same now with new management and all.

I have one on one of my rifles I call the "six million dollar" gun. I bought a 223 stainless Ruger American to use as a throw in the Gator and use around the farm rifle. I figured it would shoot good enough to kill a woodchuck or skunk and I wouldn't be upset if I scratched it. Well....I would have to purchase an Italian Carcano to say I owned a worse shoulder fired weapon!! Trigger adjustable all the way down to 9 pounds, stock the consistency of clay, 4 inch groups @50 yards...she's a real "keeper" alright. The kind of rifle that just screams gimme a Barska or BSA scope!!!
A Boyd's stock, a Timney trigger, a homemade barrel nut wrench and this Excaliber barrel later.....well, you get the picture. I got the barrel on sale and thought it would at least get this thing sold if it shot halfway decent.
I have to say that under a scope it looks like barrels costing much more with zero flaws and no tool marks. It shoots with all bullets touching at 100 yards. All my buddies have killed more animals with it that I have, it seems to be everyone's favorite gun to shoot when they visit for a woodchuck or predator hunt. I definitely bought my last Ruger...but I would use another Excaliber.

Not trying to steer you away from Xcalibler. But you might want to check out Ragged Hole Barrels, Sparks, NV and the use they have with Wilson barrels and prices.

You should wait until X-Caliber has a sale. I'm probably going to order another 12T 6BR barrel from them during their next sale.

I have their 12T 6BR barrel that I've been using working with AR Comp loads. There's a thread on that. They don't have many freebore choices though. Their 6BR chamber has a 0.271 neck and 0.94 FB.

thats what i am looking at getting exactly. you don't turn necks with Lapua Brass and that .271 chamber neck, correct?

The loaded neck diameter with 80 Bergers and Lapua brass is around 0.268 so I haven't had to neck turn.

BTW, I let one of the ROs at the range shoot a few 5 shot groups with the X-Cal 6BR and he shot his first ever group in the .0s. I gave him that target sheet. LOL
