WW760 in .22-250

Does any one have any pet accuracy loads for the .22-250 using WW 760? Previously I have used H380 and H 414 but i found a couple of unopened cans of 760 in my powder box so I might as well use it up and I am looking for some proven suggestions without re-inventing the wheel. Thanks

I havent tried the 760.In Ken Waters "Pet Loads" book he lists W760:

55 Sierra spitzer, 40gr.WW-760 @ 3668fps, 2.36"OAL,one of two best loads with 55 gr bullet

60gr Hornady HP, 39gr WW760 @3506fps, 2.40" OAL,best load with 60gr bullets;extremely accurate

There are powders that give better velocity, but 760 is very accurate and works well in a 22-250. Someone else's exact powder charge isn't relevant to your gun. The reloading manuals should give you an idea. Just start a couple gr. under max and see where it takes you. Best accuracy will be wherever it is. If it happens to be over max for a particular manual but everything's working ok, then that becomes your pet load.

I started out with this powder when i began reloading and would use 37 grns behind a SBK with good accuracy but velocity was weak. This powder worked well for me but when i started pushing things a got a big pressure spike on real hot days in the field.

WW 748 will more than likely show you some awesome groups, I've owned lots of 22/250's and all of them did it with 748, however all ball powders will group BUT they are very temperature sensitive...I used to shoot one in long range groundhog competitions and 748 produced some groups that had to be seen but you had to have sight-in marks for every 5 degrees of temperature change..it drove me crazy...now IMR 4064, groups just as nice and no problems resighting all the time...stay away from all ball powders unless you like turning knobs..

W760 and H-414 are the same powder with different branding. I have shot more H-414/W760 in the .22/250 than any other powder and use it interchangeably. There is no more variance than with different lots of any powder. If you have a pet load with H-414 it should work just fine with W760. You should start a little low and work up just as you would when changing lots of any powder. Vic
