Would you say my 6br barrel is shot out?

After just deep cleaning my RPR with a Shilen 6BR 26” barrel on it, I bore scoped it and saw this…. It has around 1500 rounds on it. Is it toast?

It doesn't matter what anyone looking at this post thinks. Its you that is going to pay for a new one. Shoot it till you decide that it has to go and let that be it, don't give it another thought. But no matter when you decide to end it, not a reason in the world to not be looking for a barrel and the means to thread it or have a slot in some smiths's schedule.

Erosion looks more like this. It should be uniform all the way around the bore and not at one location. What you have looks more like a tool or cleaning rod scrape mark.

What if, in nearly every post, the poster tested it for his self?

What’s the best primer?
What load?
What’s the go to bullet?
Will this twist stabilize this bullet at my altitude and speed?
What powder?
What seating depth is always best?

What then? What would happen?

Dude, it’s getting a carbon ring, kinda dirty, but how’s it shooting compared to what it historically did?

I like seeing these pictures. Since I don’t get to see a lot first hand, they help give perspective. I don’t see a carbon ring, but I do see some unfamiliar streaks that look to be proud of the lands on the edges. I haven’t seen those in my barrels. Otherwise, it doesn’t look bad for 1,600-ish rounds based off my limited experience. As others have said, I agree with letting the target decide.

First mistake is looking at it with a bore scope. You're shooting BUG HOLES but the bore scope says different??
Bore scope needs to go under the bench and the next time it comes out, put a FOR SALE sign on it.
5 shots that can be covered with a dime? NO, it's NOT shot out. ;)
Bore scopes are born liars. :(

I agree, it does mess with one’s head, and may skew your decisions. But unfortunately this is one of those things I can’t “unsee”! Lol

borescopes have their place but cause alot of problems to. i put my first 6br in the safe where its stayed a number of years since when i first saw some firecracking in it. it was the most accurate rifle i ever owned and still was at that time and its just a shilen barreled cheap actioned rifle. Thanks for reminding me its time to get it out and give er a whirl once again.
