Worn out 223 barrel

I have a 223 that the barrel has seen it's last rounds!!!!

I have another 223 I love and don't see the need for owning two!

What caliper barrel would you put on the gun?

Will use for PD hunting and some paper punching!

If you are thinking of 6BR then why not go 30 BR. After you neck up, the only difference is the bullet. When you buy the redding dies it comes with the tapered expander to neckup the 6BR. Those 110 Hornady V-max's are some deadly Varmint/Yote projectiles. Not to mention, If using it for targets, those fat bullets (bergers 110, 115) score better.

Standard 204..You dont want to get into fireforming 1500 to 2000 cases You will need a minimum of 1000 cases some days we shoot 50 rrounds per hour each including down time for field lunch ........My p dog shooting buddy has 4 in diff makes....All shoot well..Reaction of target is extremely satisfactory.....Scope does not jump off t arget when fired...Necessary for wind correction when shooting without a spotter.....First shot kills can be expected at 300+.....LT

Yup, wholeheartedly agree!!! One of the best, no-nonsense, cartridges for PD's a guy can have!!!

And the 204 takes the same bolthead as the 223, correct? -- Yep!! Rod Vigstol

Not a thing wrong with having two 223's.

I'd consider the second one in an 8 twist for throwing the 75 A-Max or VLD's.

But then, I'm more than a bit partial to the 22-204 too.........
