When this range is completed we will have 2 1K ranges about 50 miles apart. The other one is between Delta and Hotchkiss CO on SR 92. We have monthly F-class and sling matches for long range at 1,000 yds. and mid range at 600 yds. from April to October usually. The range outside Palisade where I live will take several years to completely finish but the greater Grand Junction area will be able to accomadate a large multi day match with adequate hotel and camping facilities. I do not know yet how many firing points will be on the high power range or if electronic targets are being considered, but hopefully there will be sufficient capacity to handle a F-class National Championship before I die. The Range will be off of I-70 just east of Palisade in Debeque Canyon at the Cameo exit. There is a State Park with some camping with full hook ups about 2 miles further east off I-70. I do not know if the range plans to build a campground or not but if they do it would also be a nice place to camp. There may be some additional private campgrounds developed eventually as well. Greater Grand Junction also has just about every known chain restaurant there is as well as many other dining options. As far as camping at Truman's place goes I wouldn't hold out much hope for that.
Two 1k ranges 50 miles apart and I live smack dab between them in Cedaredge. Is this Heaven? No excuses now better get that Dasher barreled up and start shooting some comps.

The Grand Valley is the Bannana-belt of Colorado...... that's how we have commercial peach production. Winter is really mid-December to the end of Jan.

The State of Colorado is planning a shooting sports complex facility at the Cameo Site, east of Grand Junction, CO and north of Palisade.
We cordially request your attendance and solicit your input at a meeting scheduled in Grand Junction, CO on February 3, 4 and 5, 2017, 9am to 5pm. This will be at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife office at 711 Independent Ave in the main building Conference Room. We are hoping to have your attendance one of those days for your comments on the design and development of the shooting ranges.
Plans include, but are not limited to, facilities for conventional rifle and pistol ranges, short range, mid range and long range. Facilities also include planning for a 15 bay Action Shooting and a complete shotgun sports complex including trap, skeet and sporting clays.

Shooters will soon be able to take aim at Palisade’s new Cameo shooting range in De Beque Canyon while planning continues for the development of a top-line range.
By setting up some shooting benches on the site, officials hope to discourage random shooting as town and state officials move ahead with plans for a “First Shot” dedication this spring, Town Administrator Rich Sales said.
Sales and others this week discussed development plans for the Cameo range with Clark Vargas, a Florida-based shooting-range designer, impressing Vargas enough that he stayed an extra day to visit the site.
Gov. John Hickenlooper and others are to be invited to break ground in mid-April, at the site north of the Colorado River and behind the Bookcliffs, Sales said.
The site was long home to Xcel Energy’s Cameo station, an aging coal-fired plant that was decommissioned and demolished.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife and other agencies are working with Vargas to make the most of the site, which organizers hope will attract 50,000 visitors a year, many of whom will spend a night or more and eat at restaurants or take part in other activities in the Grand Valley.
“The bench we’re talking about, it is incredibly beautiful, but also challenging,” Sales told Vargas in the meeting at the Parks and Wildlife offices in Grand Junction.
Plans also call for “pro shops” at the various shooting venues — archery, rifle, pistol, shotgun — as well as indoor classrooms for hunter education, concealed-carry and other classes, and indoor shooting ranges.
Officials aren’t looking to displace sporting goods stores or ammunition suppliers.
“We want to build something that’s complementary,” said J.T. Romatzke, Grand Junction area wildlife manager, noting that shooters sometimes need an extra box of ammunition or the like and ought not have to leave the complex to make small purchases.
Palisade used state grants to buy the shooting range land from Xcel and the Snowcap Coal Co., as well as pay for surveying and engineering plans.
Officials hope that ultimately the range will be a benefit to the entire valley, Sales said

Looks like the 600 & 1000 yard high power/ bench rest range along with a PRS range might just be the priority to get operational. Not sure I understood all that was discussed regarding PRS style of shooting however with the canyons and favorable topography a couple of those guys were pretty excited for the opportunities ahead.

Not sure, although I believe the ranges will be opened in phases as the work is completed on each individual range. I expect the first of the 100 yard ranges will be open in the next few weeks.
