Working on wind reads

Back at the range today. 2125 on the ARA card. Pretty consistent tailwind 3 - 5 mph. So it became a good exercise in estimating how much the tailwind would raise the impact. 3 shots pretty much ruined my score.

Shooter error I'd guess. Hard to imagine this Vudoo S22 being the cause of my problem.

So how far away do you think you are? What do you think the top shooters would be doing in those conditions?

My goal is 2500....however unrealistic at this point.

For the second half of the card, it was a light, switching swirling wind. Wind flag was turning circles. I tried to maximize shots during the tailwind as that is my "comfort zone" presently.

A friend of mine has a Vudoo and is having a hard time getting it to group at 100 yds. He is shooting Lapua Center X and Eley Tenex.

Maybe he'd have better fortune with different lots of CX and Tenex.

That's the word. Of course, a Lapua chamber doesn't mean all lots of Lapua will shoot well. There's no guarantee that a Lapua-friendly chamber will shoot a random lot of Lapua better than a random lot of Eley. Shooters with Lapua chambers or Eley chambers must still lot test for the best results.

He was told by Vudoo that the best accuracy will be with either Lapua or Tenex, either one. That's what he has tried, but it is hard to find different lots

in General ,i have found Center X and SK Pistol match to be the best over all in a number of my rifles . I have a Kimber 82G that loved some Ten X from the CMP but when i bought more local ,it was terrible .

This is my experience exactly. I had one rifle that shot Eley Black box pretty good a few years ago, but the last time I bought it, it didn’t impress. None of my rifles like Tenex, at least the three lots I’ve tried if it. However they all like Center X and SK RM, some lots are better than others, but even the worst lot of Center X shoots better than anything else.
