Rem 40 X 1st range trip

I recenty picked up a used Remington 40X single shot set up as a BR rifle. Guy who sold it to me had lost the particulars as far as barrel and stock went. But the wood is gorgeous and the rifleing in the barrel is sharp. I probably paid too much but I am a sucker for a nice wooden stock. I'll take a pic next range trip. It has been 7 - 15 mph winds ever day here for two weeks and I finally got a semi decent day Tuesday to get to the range and play with the tuner a bit. The wind was behaving somewhat that day, at least when I initially got there.

bulls 1 - 6 were 3 round groups of Eley Match with the tuner set at 5-00 4-00 3-00 2-00 1-00 and 0-00. bulls 6-8 were 5 rounders with the tuner at 0-25, 0-50 and 0-75. About that time the wind started picking up @ 5-10 from 3 o'clock switching to to 12 o'clock so I decided stop with the tuner tweaking and do a bit of wind practice. I switched to Midas + and the barrel was not cleaned nor were any seasoning shots taken after the ammo switch. I went back to the tuner set at 0-00. I was not sure how the rifle would shoot Midas with the Eley lube but it surprised me and the POI was almost exactly the same. A couple of clicks on the scope and I was pretty much dead on

Target 16 and 17 were sighters with scope adjustments after each shot. The flyer on 29 was all me with a really bad wind call. All in all I am pleased with the rifle. I doubt if I will be shooting any 2500 25X's with it but it is a fun little rifle to play with
