Those piles are looking a little skimpy:rolleyes: I'm going to a big dealer called Hearnes in the next couple weeks to get some "really good" material to try. They have some highly figured walnut for sale and a lot of exotics.:):):):):) Thinking about Zebra wood, Wenge, lacewood, cocobola, etc. I'll see what I can find.:p

Wow!!!! Yeah, that "live edge" stuff is really neat...I had the guy at the saw mill slab out 4 big live edge pieces of that big cherry tree so I could make a couple nice tables. One of them warped {cupped} as it dried, but the rest stayed nice and flat...I am going to used the cupped one for the legs. Those pieces are like 3 inches thick, so they will need some additional drying time.

go far it--Good for you- Its kind of like all my bullets and powder isnt it?--I wanna use it all up before I go:) Are you doing any laminating. Im going to try making a stock one of these days by laminating 3 pieces of 1" plywood together. I do have a little mill drill that works pretty slick on some operations ive done to stocks but i havent made a stock yet. Mill drill will hold .001 for the length of barrel channel

I just glued up a blank. Maple outsides on a cherry center. 3/4 inch x5 1/2 x36 boards. It's the next one I'll do. Home Depot sells maple boards. If you pick thru the racks, you'll usually find some with nice striping. Don't bother with plywood. Too many voids in most of it. I've thought about stacking and glueing veneers but That would be too time consuming.

th

Would love to see these for sale somewhere for holding 284 Win / 7 SAUM with 180 bergers. Maybe some rare earth magnets for the lid?

Here's some other small items made in the shop.

One thing that's really frustrating me at the moment is that my .308 dies, as set up to load for my long F TR ammo, don't fit in the die box any more. They're too long unless I want to undo the settings, which I don't.
