Those piles are looking a little skimpyI'm going to a big dealer called Hearnes in the next couple weeks to get some "really good" material to try. They have some highly figured walnut for sale and a lot of exotics.
Thinking about Zebra wood, Wenge, lacewood, cocobola, etc. I'll see what I can find.

Ok Thank You for the tipsI just glued up a blank. Maple outsides on a cherry center. 3/4 inch x5 1/2 x36 boards. It's the next one I'll do. Home Depot sells maple boards. If you pick thru the racks, you'll usually find some with nice striping. Don't bother with plywood. Too many voids in most of it. I've thought about stacking and glueing veneers but That would be too time consuming.
Oh you could play chess or checkers while youre shootingHere's some other small items made in the shop.
ThanksOh you could play chess or checkers while youre shootingI like that stock Jessi. I was thinking about you and your stocks to.
here are some of my quick and dirty gizmos i have madeWow!!!! Yeah, that "live edge" stuff is really neat...I had the guy at the saw mill slab out 4 big live edge pieces of that big cherry tree so I could make a couple nice tables. One of them warped {cupped} as it dried, but the rest stayed nice and flat...I am going to used the cupped one for the legs. Those pieces are like 3 inches thick, so they will need some additional drying time.
