Wood Laminate????

I would like to know everyoones Opinions of laminated Wood Stocks?

Which brand?

Better than wood? good as McMillin or Manners?

I found a New Boyds at a gun show yesterdaay in a 700 SA blind it has plllars and it had been glassed looks to be inlet for a bout about a # 5 or 6. Im wanting for a 260 build.

I had one smith say all laminates were trash because the resins were worse than natural wood for hot and cold movment.

Others have told me thay are every bit as good as a McMillin or Manners.

Let mk know what you think

Thanks DL

I ordered a Bobby Hart laminate a couple days ago, I also have a couple rifles with laminate stocks that I like very much! I believe that is what the pillars are for, to stop compression and warping. I have read that composite stocks don't need the pillars as much therefore that would lead me to believe there a little more stable!

I have several, and they compare with kevlar and glass stocks for accuracy. The laminates do NOT shift or come apart

Been talking to a guy who makes a lot of stocks for companies that sell 'their' stocks. He told me laminate was the way to go for strength and non-flexability. Solid wood was for beauty. When he carves a stock he carves the offset into the stock. He never steams a stock. Solid wood is a little better for that operation, but he can do it in any material.
