Women on Target

I belong to the NRA and also a NRA Member's Council, which I think only exist in CA, per NRA rules. Don't ask me why.

We had a popular event today, called "Women on Target". Any women can come to the "clinic", which includes a light breakfast and lunch, a classroom session, and then time on the range shooting 22 rimfire semis and revolvers. It runs for four hours total. Women love this, and it is a great way to get firearms to become more socially acceptable. I expect some women tell their friends (perhaps not gun enthusiasts), post their experience on FaceBook, etc. We have expanded the event to include a clinic for big bore pistols and also for shotguns and rifles. Everyone had a great time and we have far more applicants than space. Such a program where you live would probably be well received if it can be well received in the San Francisco bay area!

Yes Phil, we have had this program at our shooting club also, it brought out more women then our benchrest matches. The gals just absolutely loved it and it was a huge success and we also had to turn applicants away. I'll try to get a pic also. Just a wonderful event for our shooting community. Women on Target, everyone should give it a try.

I will tell our leader that the Women on Target program exists in Florida as well. He thought California was the only place. Also looks like it happens in West Virginia as well.

Phil we charge $25.00 and that included 3hr of class lunch and about 3 hours of shooting guns and ammo is provided by NRA you can bring your own gun and ammo. we max out every time.

Wow, and I thought $40 was a bargain! Out here, things are lot more expensive than Florida. We had 20 women and we went through about 1200 rounds of ammo. No personal guns allowed. The coaches brought their own guns. The NRA did not provide the ammo, but they may reimburse us for money spent buying it. Needless to say, it has been very hard to find any ammo. Fortunately, we had a local gun shop donate 1000 rounds.
