I belong to the NRA and also a NRA Member's Council, which I think only exist in CA, per NRA rules. Don't ask me why.
We had a popular event today, called "Women on Target". Any women can come to the "clinic", which includes a light breakfast and lunch, a classroom session, and then time on the range shooting 22 rimfire semis and revolvers. It runs for four hours total. Women love this, and it is a great way to get firearms to become more socially acceptable. I expect some women tell their friends (perhaps not gun enthusiasts), post their experience on FaceBook, etc. We have expanded the event to include a clinic for big bore pistols and also for shotguns and rifles. Everyone had a great time and we have far more applicants than space. Such a program where you live would probably be well received if it can be well received in the San Francisco bay area!
