Your are right sir, but I'm sure the Marine Corp. shop had qualified armorers that performed all of those operations on the 700 or 40X actions. I have several that were trued up by gunsmiths, even 40X's that needed trued. But they continued to use them through the years. Thats all I was saying.properly tuned 700 actions are very accurate, but many need work on the lug contact, single pointing the threads and making the barrel bore cener line coincide with the bolt centerline, boring the action body straight. Once done they can compete at the highest levels. A friend put together a 6x hunter rifle recently on a SS 700 action. That particular action needed very little work, threads mostly. It shoots exceptionally. But, after you buy a 700 action, bolt, bottom metal for say $4-500 and sink the extra $ into accurizing you still have a 700 action that in competitive circles will not hold its value like a custom action. But, if you are happy with it, that is just fine.
I just didn't see the need, to slam an old company that has been in business probably longer than many of us here were born, and contributed to the defense of our Country.
Or, see the need to slam the qualifications or shooting abilities of Marines, who go to different parts of the world and give their lives to protect our freedoms. I own Kelbly and Stiller actions too, and their quality is obvious. Not trying to disrespect anyone here. Just my humble opinion.
