With $1,500 in hand...

With $1,500 in hand, what would be the best combination of scopes for prairie dog shooting to spend your money on ?

One Nightforce
Two Leupolds
Three Bushnell 4200
Four Sightrons
Five Bushnell 3200
Six Weaver T10,on sale)
Eight Bushnell 3200 10X

As to number of rifles needing scopes, there are always be too many rifles needing scopes and there will always be more rifles to add scopes to.

Assume common quick detachable scopes bases and rings so that one scope could be moved from one rifle to another rifle. Would, of course, need to have its windage and elevation adjusted for the new rifle.

Thoughts ?

4 Sightrons...I cant get over how good the optics are for the price. I think they are every bit as good as Leupold, if not better in some instances. Customer service is second to none. I've never cared much for Bushnell, and Weaver is OK, but customer service is abysmal. Nightforce is great, but for PD hunting, the need for multiple rifles is paramount as there is just too much shooting in the course a day.

I think that the Bushnell 4200s are an exceptional value, for the use that you have described, and have great optics .

I would go with the Nightforce as a first choice, or I would buy a bunch of Burris Black Diamonds and get to shooting if I couldn't afford more Nightforces.....

Where'd the $1500.00 come from????

I thought you just spent it on barrels? :D:D:D:D

What shooting distance?

For the buck.....buy five 6-24x56 Nikko Stirling NightEater, side focus, mildot) and pocket the 500 extra. Have multiple hits at 650-785...now I am building a rifle to reach out a little further...the 204 and 223 AI are about done.

What shooting distance?

Have never gotten prairie dogs to cooperate with the distances that I preferred to shoot.

But I rarely shoot further than 300 yards, usually less than 200 yards, cause my hit rate falls quite a bit beyond that.

Ah....then....I would go with a fixed 12 power from Nikko in the Nighteater series.

Zero at 100 and "dial up a prairie rat" for all the other distances out to 500 should be no problem.

:comp::crazy:Hammer....ya need,1) ...ONE...8-32x56 SIII Sightron,, that takes care of the 1st $800.or so.....then spend the rest on all us NICE guys Who justed helped ya' decide...Sounds like a $700.00 beer party at Hammer's place guys..
