Windy day groundhog hunt.

While a beautiful day the wind gusts were continuous at 20 to 25 miles per hour, saw 11 , shot at 6 ,drt 5 one miss at 252 yards due to very high wind. The gh's were very spooky and didn't give much time to present shots. The fields are over a quarter mile long ,some longer.105 this season.Treeline is 200 yards to the right 182 to the left.

Howdy !

You reached a milestone a whole bunch of varminters would be happy to reach themselves.

Great job !

Good shooting! No. 331 dropped here tonight.
We're lucky we have the spots , as they're rare as hens teeth in my state,i've hunted these spots for years and get referrals every year . I won't even get to hunt half of what i've secured, there's a thing called work that keeps throwing a wrench in things.I'm thankful i have spots that produce, many are not as fortunate. Good shooting.

I got a pretty good milestone in ID this year. Since I've wiped out most of the groundhogs in eastern WV I've been going to ID for 6 years for rockchucks. Since they're basically the same animal I include them together in my records that I've kept since 1975.
Here's a little less than half of what I took in ID this year in 2 hours. It was, indeed, a honey hole. Used my Rem. XP-100R in .22-250 & 40 gr. BTs. 10-20 mph winds all day.20240526_174830.jpg
