Wind speed

hello
I was looking around on the internet about wind speed found a few things. about moa, or half, full values and so forth.
I want know the force of the wind, like the wind speed on a bullet, example 1mph wind effect or affect on a 6mm br. 108gr. bullet from right to left using a right triangle method, the distance is 3oo yards?, bullet is moving 2700 fps. how far off is the bullet from a 1mph wind speed off the bull's eye on the target, such as 1" 2" .50" and so forth. any answer is best. thank you

some ballistic software will do that in their target section..like quick target portion of quick load.

I just put in all the parameters with a 10 mph wind speed from 9 o'clock for my "Range Card," and then apply multipliers (1.5, 2.0, etc) for the wind speed and percentages (50%, 87%, etc) for the wind value.

Unfortunately, a right-triangle calculation will be of very little use. The wind drift is not a linear thing as the bullet is decelerating in flight. Any of the aforementioned calculators would give you the information you seek.

Using the data you provided, if you're looking for "rough" figures with a 90% full value wind, you might expect something like half an inch of drift at 300 yards. But keep in mind that winds are rarely constant, either in speed or direction, and that other variables like topography, etc. always come into play. Reading the wind as it affects shooting is always a challenge and it is nowhere near an exact science.

Try a low tech solution and read the book..."Reading the Wind" by M/SGT James R. Owens USMC Ret. Best 8 buck investment I ever made.
