I think this must be the case when running heavy bullets. I built a 270wsm to run heavies but had to build it on a LA to get the mag clearance. Since they're putting a 7.5 twist on the factory guns, I expect most loads will be heavy. Won't compete with a 270wsm and a fast twist barrel for throwing heavies, though.Compared to 270 WSM, the 6.8 Western Case is shorter, but cartridge overall length is longer, rifling twist is faster, leade is longer. Did Winchester have to shorten the case in order to use longer bullets while still fitting a magazine spec length?
