Winchester 52b magazine release button

I have a 1947 vintage Winchester 52B that I had removed the non original stock. I saved all the parts in a box, yet while trying to re-assemble, I can not get the mag release button to stay in place. (It will simply pull out when everything is assembled.) What am I missing?

I figured it out...

It helps if the button is inserted from the inside, as the flange holds it in place. :
