Help Need Canjar Triggers Mauser 98 / SAKO / Winchester 70

As a newbee first of all thanks for accepting me on your forum. My name is Jasper , Dutch airgun enthusiast and also small bore shooter in our local shooting club. I have a special interest in vintage, mainly German air rifles. If anyone needs help or info on those, just send me a message directly and I try to help you or get you a contact for your question. Also I have good connections for airgun parts (Vintage, German and some other).

My first post here is about Canjar triggers. I did not know those until this week, I found 5 of those brand new in a box of airgun parts. 3x for SAKO/ MAUSER 98 no safe, 1x MAUSER / SAKO with safety and 1x Winchester 70.

I have no fire arms to test , So I have to find out things on the internet and on my work table.
They are all packed in plastic with an original factory paper. Nothing was moving in the beginning, exept for the beautifully made trigger shoes that could be cocked and released perfectly.
After oiling things started moving , so close manufacturing tolerances and sticky old grease are the problem here.

Now the real question is about their interaction with the gun bolt. I was not really able to find out to pre-load a sear or so and pull the trigger and release it , like in an airgun. I have to put a little pressure on the "sear" on top of the unit and then pull the trigger, the sear can move down. Then it allows the firing pin to move I presume?

Can anyone tell me this is how they should function yes / no ?

I have one on my Post 72 Winchester Model 70. It works very well now that I've cleaned out the channels where the small bearings reside (underneath each adjustment screw).

Thanks, I did not get the Winchester trigger moving (did not try yet). does the small sear need to move forward / backward?

Ive had many Canjar triggers and still use some . Dirt and old oil are a problem. I soak mine in Naptha solvent or lighter fluid for a few days before a good cleaning with compressed air . Youve got a nice selection and you are putting pressure on the sear from the back which is correct.

Thanks all, the Mauser system is clear, there is also a Winchester 70 Canjar in between them.
there is a small sear that cvan move a little bit forward and backward, Is this OK?

As mentioned before, unfortunately here there is no job for the triggers.
Did not know this principle.
In dutch we call this (translated) an accelerator, I only knew the German "Stecher" as on Walther Airguns with the double triggers.

Yes some foward movement is designed in sears that have the bach mating surface at 90 deg . The foward movement of the bolt , cocking piece , pushes the sear foward in contact with the trigger . Pulling bolt back , again the cocking piece hits the sear and unloads it from the pressure of the trigger .
