Does a Winchester 52D trigger adjust lighter than a 52C?

I just got a 52D. My 52C has a Canjar trigger so I couldn't compare. I would like to have the factory triggers worked on and replace the Canjar with factory. I do not shoot any competition and do let others shoot my rifles. The Canjar doesn't have a safety which is the only thing I dislike.

I helped a friend adjust his D trigger to less than a pound.

Thank you! That did answer my question. I might replace a Canjar trigger on my 52C with a 52D trigger. Others shoot my rifle and I want a safety on it.

One way and the potential issue with setting a C or D trigger ultra light is to minimize the sear/trigger engagement. This can lead to rolling over the sear over time. AFAIK there is a minimum engagement value that shouldn't be messed with. These triggers are amenable to being worked on to set them to a few ounce trigger but it involves disassembly and relocating parts. I have one done by Karl Kenyon years ago that is great. Not sure who might have the knowledge to do this. If you screw up a C or D trigger, they aren't making them anymore!

The first D triggers were the same as C triggers the later D triggers could be adjusted lighter
And their are people on RFC and I believe here that do the Kenyon mod , Dockey ? Is one

I have a Browning 52 B reproduction sporter (purchased used). I have not touched the trigger but it is low oz pull. I don't have anything that will measure that low, but it's lower than my black powder rifles with double set triggers. It is safe. I've given it a good thump in all directions and it held ok.

Anyone have one of these? I did not think a factory rifle would normally go that low.

They don't go that low, even with the lawyer pin removed. Someone probably had the pivot point changed on yours

Yes, I'm aware of what I have. Also what I want to do. After Christmas, there will be some horse trading....

I didn't remove the action today, I will when I change scopes. I did dig out my old RCBS trigger pull guage, spring type. It tripped the trigger before reaching 8oz. Looked like 6oz? Not very accurate, but it gives me some idea.

Changed scopes and pulled the action out. Yes, lawyer pin is gone. I didn't dig any further to see if anything else was done. Probably wouldn't know anyway.

If you have a D model it won’t have a lawyer pin , only the Japanese Miroku models or their triggers had the “lawyer pin “

It is a Miroku sporter. Bought used with a great trigger.

I bought a very slightly used Browning 52C sporter a year or so ago that looked NIB. The trigger still had the lawyer pin installed, but even after I'd tapped it out, this trigger was horrific - very heavy & with a ton of very rough creep. And the barrel was so full of lead fouling that I had a tough time getting the Pro Shot .20 cal rod with a wet patch through the bore. Finally got out a new bronze bore brush and made passes saturated with Shooters Choice until several wet patches finally went through fairly smoothly. Then used my Hawkeye borescope on it, and found steep leade angle and a rough bore with all sorts of annular rings spaced throughout the length of the bbl. No wonder the exterior of this rifle still looked new - the original owner must've shot it once, realized what a turd the trigger & bore were, and offered it for sale. I talked Krieger into adding .050" to the OD of the factory bbl contour out of a straight cylinder blank, then sent the rough & crappy trigger to Dokey from over on RFC. His work didn't get rid of all the creep, but did make the break light enough so that I can live with the remaining creep - it's a very shootable trigger. Beats me why Miroku would go to all the trouble to duplicate the Winchester C trigger and then do such a crappy job of it. Whatever - I wound up with a very attractive C sporter with excellent accuracy, and am plenty pleased that mine & Dokey's efforts turned a turd into a pretty decent rifle.

Dear Sir ,
Many of the earlier 52 D rifles have a C trigger.
The difference is in the front of the trigger.
If it has a spring in the front - it is a C.
A 52 C trigger will barely go down to perhaps 23 ounces before problems. A genuine D trigger has a different front. Just a heavy screw. If you have a genuine D trigger it will go down to 1/2 pound easily. It go to 6 ounces but you can cause problems of not staying cocked. I hope this helps you.
