Will I need a 20MOA base for 22-250AI?

Putting together a 22-250 AI on a Savage 110. The scope will be a Weaver T-36. I've never used/played with a T-36 before, so I'm wondering if I'll need a 20MOA base to get the needed adjustment for 600 yards, which is what I'm setting this rifle up for.

Fat, just trying to help..Depends on which bullet and how hot it is loaded,, I use the Nightforce ballistic software to deside how much the desired buller drops. There for a decision on the amount of elevation can be made. Also dont forget the MOA of the 36X scope.

Figure about 13 MOA or so to get from your 100y zero to 600y with a good BC bullet in that chambering. If you're using light, varmint bullets, figure 15 MOA to be safe.

So, will the T-36 provide 15 MOA of 'up' from your 100y zero after you mount it? That's the question.

You're probably okay with a flat mount, but a tapered mount won't hurt. EGW makes a good, inexpensive base for Savage rifles. Forty bucks. Flat or tapered. Google for EGW and you'll find 'em.

The Weaver T-36 normally has 60 MOA of total vertical adjustment. You will need about 9-10 MOA at 400 yards, 13-15 MOA at 500 yards and 17-20 MOA at 600 yards depending on your bullet drop and the height of the scope axis over the bore axis. You should be able to manage without mount base tilt.

If you are going to be shooting at 600 yards exclusively then a 20 MOA mount tilt would be good. This would keep the optical axis of the scope close to center and thereby reduce the distortion that occurs when the optical path is not parallel with the lens axis as when using the adjustments near their limits.

You could get a 20 MOA mount base or you could use Burris Signature Rings. Using offset inserts +0.020 bottom rear and -0.020 top rear with -0.010 bottom front and +0.010 top front will give you the 20 MOA tilt at 5 inch ring center to center.

Thanks for all the info. I'm really new to the longer range accuracy game. Damn prairie dogs! The EGW base looks good, and is certainly priced right. I've wasted far more than $40 on less...

FWIW, I shoot a 22-250 rem., 50g v-max at about 3750 fps. I'm at about 1,640 ft. and it takes me 11 moa to get to 600 yds. I think it was 55 or 60 degrees.
