I'm getting ready to order a new weaver t-36.,mabey I should order a sightron however I think the weaver has a better track record). I've never owned a weaver or a sightron so I need some good advise.
I was wondering whether to get the fine crosshair or 1/8 moa target dot? Do any of you have an opinion on which reticule is the best and why ? Thanks in advance for your reply

I have a Weaver V24 6x24 and I have the fine crosshair in mine. This reticle is fine enough that you can do serious target work with it. It can be hard to see in low light situations though.

I do not have any experience with their mil-dot scopes.

I really like this scope i think it is a great value.

I have both the Weaver and the Sightron 36's. The weaver has been around a lot longer than the sightron, hence the track record. I feel the Sightron has better optics than the Weaver, but only by a fraction, its just a little clearer. Every BR scope I have has some kind of "locking" mechanism that I have added to help reduce the possibility of POI shifts, but I don't think unless you are shooting competitive short range BR that this is nessecary with either of these scopes. As far as the dot vs fine crosshair goes, I think it is a matter of preference. I like the 1/8 dot reticle myself, but for others, a fine crosshair or a bigger dot may in order. If I had to choose between the two scopes, I would buy the Sightron.

My T36 has the crosshair and it's served me very well. I just got my Sightron 36 with dot, have it mounted on the 6BR and am hoping to shoot it in the next few weeks. I can definitely see the advantage the dot with give me, especially at 100 where the dot will be 1/2 the diameter of a bullet hole.

As a side note though I haven't taken it to the range yet, looking through this Sightron is definitely easier than looking through the T36. It's clearer and the sight picture isn't lost with the slightest head movement like the Weaver, which cuts me no slack at all. -Rod-
