Will a reasonably priced Spotting Scope see the bullet holes?

A 100mm Pentax can define 30 cal. holes at 1000 my little 65 mm Pentax ha no trouble seeing 30 cal. holes at 500 and I don't know any rifle scope that I have that can't. 6mm and down is the issue. also you can see the holes better on the next guys target than you can on your own...... jim
Yeah but my Trijicon scope only has a 30x max power. Not the 42x, 50x, 60x or more that you guys use for benchrest shooting. There’s a lot of lesser scopes I’ve used in the 24-32x max range that would never be able to see 30 cal holes at 500 yards.

When I was using my Nikon 60ED with the 40x eyepiece at 635 yards, I was spotting 30 cal holes. But the detail was so sharp and evident that I know I could have just as easily been able to pick out 22 cal holes at that range, probably even 17 cal

You are assuming you could see them.... ... jim

That must've been my target...it's easier to see em when they group tight! Lol happy new year Jim.

Tom

To add something useful. I don't think you'll have much trouble with resolving holes at only 300 with just about anything half decent. If conditions are the worst possible, I just can't see not being able to find them with a spotter. I dunno, I like good glass so possibly there's something out there that wouldn't??? Maybe

I find at times here I saw impossible to see 6mm holes at 200 with all good rifle scopes. Must be the air here over out in for area, seems to a big difference..... May have something to do with group size here too LOL.... jim
