Or will it just sink into a tree?
+1 on this statement , anything is possible , some wood is extremely hard.... Here in Texas we have what's called a blackjack post oak I believe and it will kill a chainsaw blade I have even heard of it throwing tiny Sparks when cutting it late in the day... Now that could be sand etc... But it's horrible on the blades... Something like a old dry railroad ties I could see it bouncing off.... Like a soft pine I doubt it but anything is possible....It could occur, most of the time wood will allow no ricochet, but there is always the chance of the unknown.
ROFL , lol , no don't do that....dont shoot a rubber tire with a rimfire...
yikes

So he quick drawed a single six and hit a nail at 20’? He should have went on to become an exhibition shooter!A high school friend who was a great shot with anything, told me to "watch me quick draw my 22 (Ruger single six) and hit that nail in that fence post" that was about 20 feet away. Yep. "OUCH". He looked down and the bullet had landed on top of his boot after hitting his knee. Yep, shiny nail head, nice welp just above his kneecap. Yep, young and real dumb with no eye protection or hearing protection on either one of us. Learning is a painful process.
