Wildcat has it already been done or is it worth it?

Hi all, new here obviously. I'm thinking about a new rifle build and not sure if someone has already done what I'm think. So here goes. I'm thinking a 6.5-7mm WSM AI. I know the WSM case has been necked down to 6.5. But has it also been improved with minimal body taper and a 40 degree shoulder? If I'm right this hopefully will nip at the heels of the 26 Nosler only better because it'll be in a shorter stiffer action. So what say you? Has it already been done? If it hasn't been done yet is it worth doing?

Thanks

I'm sure it has been done, but that does not mean you can not build one. Personally it does not appeal to me, but if it melts your butter, go for it. ;)

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Erik, I've done a Google search but came up with nothing as far as the improved case. Just 6.5 WSM. So as of right now I really have no base line data to go on.

Maybe someone that has quickload could help you out as I think you can design wildcats with this software from neco.

I've been really pleased with my new 6.5 SAUM IMP...
I took the 7MM Remington SAUM case and blew the sides out .006 and put the shoulder angle at 35 degrees...
It will shoot fire forming 140 Berger hunting VLD's into the 1's @ 100 yards with 64 grains of H-1000, and F-215 Mag primers...

There's another shooter on longrangehunting.com that has the 6.5 SAUM shortened .200" with a long neck and 40 degree shoulder.

Thanks everyone! What kind of velocity do you get with the 6.5 SAUM? The accuracy potential sonds great! I've read about the Leopard round, that round is what intrigued me for this project. Essentially same round just with minimal body taper and a 40 degree shoulder.
