Wide stocks

For you guys that are using the 5'' or wider stocks on your light gun, have you found that it makes a big difference with the tracking? How about drag in the bags? Still seems like a lot of 3'' stocks out there, just wondering if there is a down side to the wide ones.

I run a 5" wide on my 338 Ultra Mag and do notice a difference, especially the way it torques in the rest....

been using a 6'' for three years, would never go back to a 3''. dogdude

Less drag than the 3 inch. Only 3/4 inch on each side of stock rides on bag on my 4 inch.

Those look really nice. They look wider than 4''. I have a 4'' now but its been so long since I shot a 3'' I can't remember if it made that much difference. Tom, will you be shooting one of those new stocks?

I just got my Hammerhead from PR and T and I haven't ran it at a match yet but the little bit Ive shot it, it tracks WAY better than my old MBR. plus you see less movement when chambering another round.

Here is a 6 in. wide Light gun I just finished. I definably can attest to the reduction in torque and improved tracking. ;D

Glad to see this post. I was starting to think I was crazy. I was working on this one over the winter. Still a lot to do yet. 4" wide with Protektor super slick bag. Just waiting for my action to finish the rest of it. Birdseye maple, African Padauk, and Wenge.

Ditto, I just got mine and got a soft case rigged together but will need something sturdier before nats at Memphis.

I bought an SKB and fit my 6 inch wide light gun inside. I believe it is a double rifle case Model 5009. Matt

TomE sells some aluminum cases that are pretty nice and they will fit the 5" stocks.

Jason, I talked to Tom about them a couple of weeks ago but they are fairly spendy.
