WHY THE HECK IS BURRIS SO FAR BEHIND????????????????

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
Does anyone know what happened to burris and why the signature zee rings are no longer available.I heard they would be back up and rumnning in september, now it is almost december.Does anyone have an idea as to what has happened?

jon: Posted on another thread recently: Burris moved their manufacturing facilities ( for the rings only?), to a new location & will not be up and running 'til January. Information posted by "hedge" in the gear talk forum.

Fortunately I bought a set of 30mm high SigZee's a while back for a Nightforce mount on my new 6.5X47 Lapua build from Sharp Shooter Supply! I still need a set of 30mm mediums for a lonely Sightron! Two sets have been backordered, seems like forever!
fdshuster, thanks for the info at least I know what's going on. They should have hired me(sole proprietor of Majestic CNC Services) to set up their CNC equipment, might have been done by now! Also would have know it was done right! ;D

Are you trying to buy them right from Burris, or did you Google the part number and find out who might have them in stock. Just a thought.

Tarey: A lot of the retailers are showing them in stock, then when you contact them to place the order, they inform you that they are on back-order. Their way of hooking you & keeping you on the line for a sale, when they do become available. Burris really dropped the ball on this one. Wonder how many possible sales they have lost, when would be purchasers gave up & bought something else.

They lost at least 2 sales to me recently. I ended up going with TPS and they seem to be pretty good so far. I thought I was going to need to the offset inserts to get zeroed, but luckily it turned out I didn't. I'm glad I didn't wait for them to get done.

Another question I have. Does Burris make anything in the US anymore? I bought one of the Fullfield 30 scopes that Midway had on sale a couple weeks ago and it was made in the Phillipines. Maybe this is nothing new, but I have not noticed it before on older scopes.

Count me in as someone else waiting for a set of Signature Zee rings.

AFAIK only scopes that are still "made" here in the US are some Leopolds (I say some because many of the low end models are mostly import inside, even if the tubes are made in the USA), US Optics, and the compact Nightforces. Maybe Premier but I read most of the high value components are German (Optronika).

jonbearman -

I got lucky and found a guy (css) on the sniper's hide forum who had the 30mm rings I needed. He may have what you need. He's a stand up guy and delivered as promised.

Yep I am waiting as well. Recieved a set that the cross bolt was not threaded correctly. I have a brand new set awaiting a return when they have in stock again.

And Mrmajestic if they had Mori's there I could help them out as I am a service tech for Mori Seiki.

Zeiss Conquest scopes are reportedly assembled in the US too (with German (or is it Chech?) components). Awfully nice scopes for the money.

Yeah, true. Forgot about them. Also, the recently introduced Steiner Tactical are also assembled here with German insides.
