Why didn't I think of that?

Pat Reagin of PMA tools sent a neat item for adjusting dies without shims, or removing the die from the press. It is called a Micro-riser unit and it features two rings threaded together. One ring is locked to the die and has .001" graduations. The other ring can be moved up or down by as little as .0005"....hence "micro". Below is a picture of the unit with my .30 BR Whidden Fl die set up. I put the black mark on the ring to indicate "zero". Good shooting ....James PS- It will also work with a press-type seating die.

next question is when can i get one. every reloader needs one of these. this would help me tremendously when adjusting for shoulder bump

For details of availability and price, call Pat Reagin at 260-246-5860. Please tell him that I sent you. James Mock

It is true that Charlie Hood made a version that fit his press and Jim Carstensen made one that fit a Harrel's press. This PMA unit fits on the die and can be used with most presses. Good shooting....James

I had the same exact idea running through my head and sketched a few ideas out...but mine has to work on a Forster press. Just need some free machine time to work on it along with a ton of other projects! Very nice indeed though...

That's precisely my hang up because I use a Co-Ax as well.

Looks to me like there is still a market for something like this that would function in a Co-ax if you have an idea guys. I'm pondering getting one of these and using the Big bossII instead of the Forster. At least for the Dasher.

We've been working on this doodad off and on for a good long while and it finally came together. I guess our two major hang ups were trying to get it thin enough to work on the shortest of cartridges and somehow make it work with the Co-Ax Press. I guess we gave up on the Co-Ax for now, but we got them just about as short as we can without losing thread engagement. To make something like this work with the Co-Ax is going to take some big thinking.

James was nice enough to test it out for us several weeks ago and he found one of his custom dies to be a little too short to work with the Micro Die Adjuster. We did a little extra testing of our own and found that using an extended shellholder did the trick for this type of really short die.

In our own testing we used dies from all the major manufacturers plus dies from Harrell's Precision and some made on Newlon die blanks and found that the Micro Die Adjuster worked well for us, even with the short dies from Harrells for PPC. I'm confident that it will work with 99+% of the dies out there without an extended shellholder.

We should have a video available of how to set it up any day now. They are now available for pre-order and should ship by the end of the week.

Pat, I can't get on your site. Not sure if it's just me or what but all I get is Fat cow web hosting telling me something isn't right.

FatCow is our webhost and did some kind of maintenance yesterday and we were down for about 5 hours in the middle of the day. Hit F5 on your keyboard or the refresh button on your browser. That should take care of it, if it doesn't, shoot me an email and I'll dig deeper.

That's good to hear on the fireball Phil. Funny how things work when you have the right equipment.

The price on the micro die adjuster is $49.95.

Does this only work with FL dies or will it work with a body die? The reason I ask is I will be using a redding body die and lee collet die until i get a new barrel and get a custom die for it. Also will it work with a Redding bigboss 2 press?

Thanks
