if you're talking about seeing the 12-42 scopes for sale, it's because NF just came out with a newly designed 15-55 competition scope.

Oh...I don't know. I can only guess. I've heard great things so far about the new NF BR scope so not sure.

reticles available not suited for precision shooting. I probably owned one for shortest time in history ! owner asked me to call before he shipped and explained he didn't think I would be happy for benchrest .that was why he was selling. a lt of good guys out there !

Don't know (or care) why others may be selling theirs. I'm perfectly happy with mine and the NP-DDR reticle.

I also see a lot of Leupold Competition Series 35,40 & 45x, and Sightron S111 10-60x60mm's for sale.

I'm with fdshuster. I'm perfectly happy with mine with the NP-DDR reticle. The center dot is a bit too big for my liking for precision work, so I just use the cross hair underneath it.

It's good to hear people happy with these. I am interested in another Nightforce and have just not made up my mind yet which one. What reticle in their lineup would you recommend for closer range precision work?

I have spoken to this question on a couple of threads and will give my opinion here as well.

The new Competition scope is at some point going to be a winner no doubt about that. I purchased one hoping that it would be just the deal on a new F-Class rig I was finishing up, The 55 power was a big selling feature for me. I own 6 Nightforce scopes, 4 NXS, 1 a 8x32x56 with 1/8th click adjustments, three 12x42x56 1/4 click and two Benchrest Models. All 6 of my scopes have the NP R2 reticle and all of them are on Match Rifles both F-Class and Long Range Benchrest.

The really big problem I had with the Competition Model was the DDR "DOT" I also didn't care for that stupid eye relief and how finicky it is. It was not a huge problem though as I do verify my head position on the stock for each shot. The dot though was something I could just not live with. It simple covers or obscures too much of the X Ring for either F-Class or for sure Benchrest.

I believe that Nightforce will remedy this and offer a better ( it couldn't be worse) choice of reticles. I have talked to them and they tell me the will be able to change the earlier scopes to any reticle you want ( at a price) when the offer a wider choice.

Is the glass really better on the Competition? Maybe yes and maybe not, I have looked thru both with the rifles setting side by side and can tell very little if any difference, but I would say the edge goes to the Competition. I also wish they had left this scope with a 56 MM lens out front, the side focus is a plus for sure as is the 1/8 click. For me it was all about the reticle...

What reticle do you prefer?

Gaming gaming gaming!!

Will it never end???

I'm waitin for 'em to make a 100X with an objective lens bout the size of a lard bucket!!

People are trying them and not liking them. It's the eye relief and the reticle choice.

I shoot from a bench, so I can live with the eye relief, but I can't have a reticle that is busy or that I'm using a secondary part of it not in the center. Too much thinking when the pressure is on for me. For example, I much prefer the CH-3 to the NP2-DD.

Fix the eye relief problem and make it 4"eye relief. Replace the knobs with 10min. per rev. I could live with the rest..... jim

There is a lot for sale and it keeps increasing.
Not only the 15-55. also the new nsx 5-25. with the 34mm tube.

I can live with the eye relief, but need the reticles fixed. I guess that's the short-range perspective. Give me a CH-3!
