Who to use to ship scopes

I know maybe this is a stupid question, But in this moment in time I will ask with all the crazy in the air. Do fedex, ups and usps allow shipping rifle scopes? I know ups stores have their own rules, also not looking for disgruntled answers. Just wanting facts. I’d prefer usps, just want to be sure it’s ok.

My local ups store won’t ship anything related to firearms, but the one right up the road (that’s a PITA to get to) will. So a scope is “binoculars”. As a company, yes they will, but individual proprietors may not.

When, I ship it is either USPS or UPS, FedEx is hard to send stuff with here in my hometown. When Cameralandy ships to me it is either UPS or USPS. Sometimes UPS hands it over to USPS for delivery.

I have it shipped FedEx and have them hold it at the HUB, they notify me and I go pick it up there which requires an ID. That way it doesn't get thrown on the front porch and is sitting there until I get home. I don't have to worry about it.

All optics are "telescopes for bird watching" when asked at the shipping store. Everything else is "engineering tools". Haven't been asked about contents at all since COVID started. They're too busy.

I use USPS and UPS. I buy the tag/label online and drop it off wherever it's convenient.

I would discourage creating naming of package contents, just put in "Scope" or something like "NF 5.5-22". Being dishonest gives them another reason to deny your insurance claim, which they will try to do anyway.

My local ups store has shipped scopes and rifle stocks for me. I've even had them package them.
Lake City Florida.

You Print the Label Fed-X or UPS
You can state Lab Glass Tube ? Valve $$$$

Walk in lay it on the Counter and Leave .

You have Tracking and a file.

The UPS store's can be picky at times. Luckily I have a UPS hub by me
and just list as "magnified optics" or telescope.
Put the manufacture name down (they don't know the difference) in case
of damage.
Most important is, PACK WELL! And insure it. Don't be afraid to over pack it.
Plenty of tape and make sure it doesn't shift or slide at all.
I'd rather spend a few bucks on packaging than have a claim. PITA
This is with any carrier.

Lost count of how many scopes that I’ve shipped through the regular postal service.
Just make sure it’s packaged WELL. It’s probably going to go for a ride around the country a little. As long as they don’t loose it, it should be fine. I’ve never been asked what’s in the box. I figure that’s it’s none of their business as long as its not dangerous, explosive, etc

Half a roll of tape is peace of mind, don't be stingy with tape, it has good value

Shipping optical equipment or machine parts / 1911 Indian motor cycle fork tube 30 bore … whatever you make up - just pack the hell out of it , print the labels at home , tape tape and tape again , drop it off any of the three work , and tape it again , did I mention tape

We have the exact same problem here. Now anytime one of us ships a scope it's birdwatching equipment and suddenly they don't seem to care.

I’ve shipped a ton of scopes via USPS priority. Never had a problem which I know is not the experience some others have had. I mostly use them for connivence, small town with limited options. I always pack it well, over pack it for that matter and use a healthy dose of strapping tape just in case in gets in the hands of a box abuser.

I sent a Scope to Joshb via the UPS store close by. Without thinking
when asked what was in the box, I said shooting optics. The girl at
the counter ask me if it went on a rifle !! I said air rifle, and she gave
me no more grief. Be careful of the wording of you package. I should
have said telescope or spotting scope, and will from now on.
