Who remembers these?

For awhile I tried an old Ghetto Blaster with a home made cassette tape of my own calling. The thing was pretty big and heavy, and I don't think I got the amplification that my mouth call does. Soooo, one time I used it in combination with my mouth call, and called a pair in. Only got one of them, which turned out to be a good thing. -- My walk back to the truck was a bitch with a rifle, shotgun, ghetto blaster, AND a good sized coyote. These day's someone prolly would have a phone pic of how stupid I looked. jd

I went to high school in the fifties and really into music, mostly R&B / Do-Wop stuff I had a few 78 but mostly 45 rpm records ........like over 100+ . Some great groups , the ballads and harmony and for me memories. I'm cruising down the road in my 46 Ford with some pretty young thing and the whole world still in front of me.

Where did all that time go?

Mort

I've got a box of probably thirty or so 78 RPM records for that phonograph pictured above. They sound fairly scratchy, but the overall sound is amazing for the technology.

I've also got about 500 old rock albums from 60's, 70,s, and 80's. Haven't listened to any of them for years. jd

My sister has a voice recording of my father on a record that was
made in England just prior to the Normandy landings. U.S. Army
held them until six months after the invasion for security reasons.
Very cool piece of history you have there.

I still have some of those I used for crow hunting. Would play also till I got the cassette filled. Bought a tackle box, small powerhorn and cheap cassette player and put it together for a portable player and a small motorcycle battery for power. Lots of crows met their demise with that setup.
Still have my Technics record player I bought 50 years ago. Had to replace the belt and the speed regulating setup is a bit wonky, but it still plays. I have about 40 albums and 100 45's. Mid 60's to 80's rock

Mine first 45 was Jonny Cash, burning ring of fire. I was hooked right then and there. I'm still hooked to this day, 70 years later. It was one heck of a ride from there to now and still is. I can't wait for each new morning just to see what's going to happen that day.
Some will be good and some won't, that's called life.

Going back a ways, I have my Grandaddy's Edison Gramophone and some old records for it. They're Bakelite or similar material and about 1/4 inch thick. It's been decades since I tried to play any of them but I believe they're from the Big Band days of the 1920s. I do remember that I couldn't actually call that stuff music but in a simpler time folks enjoyed different things.

A few christmases ago my son gave me a old pink floyd album, I thought what am I gonna do with that. He gave me a turntable to. There back in style. Doug

I think "Mad" was pretty cerebral humor for the typical teenager, but maybe not for those days. Now you meet folks in their forties who are clueless about satire and innuendo.

I'll bet I'm not the only kid who's had his butt whipped for having faulty trigger control on my assault tongue. jd
