I have a real nice, .17 Remington, stainless, less than 500 rounds (one, 100 round bag of Remington brass used) , 1-9 twist, 4 L-G, Lilja, #2, 22 inch threaded for a Ruger 77 MKII. I would sell this for $95 plus shipping. (what a deal!). If interested send me a PM for additional details. All work was done by a well known gun-smith. A new barrel would cost about $400 fitted. Post Christmas deal.

I went with a Shilen prefit for my 17 mach IV build. Only about 250 rds down it, but really like it. Only experience in 17 cal bbls, but have a few other Shilens and they have treated me well.

Shilen and Dodge Cummin's for me. But I were looking for a barrel wouldn't hesitate to give Hengehold's Broughton a try.

Thanks for the offer but I am looking to have a Tikka rebarreled. I have a Tikka built on a Broughton and really like it. I will give them a call and see if it is something I can get from them even though I do not see it listed on their sight as an option.

My primary like with the .17 were the dramatic visual effects like spotting hits with near zippo recoil & the over 4000 fps velocities. Possibly, I might need to acquire another M77 and re-install my old .17 barrel.

It has long been over due and want to build a 17 caliber Remington. I have looked at others and the 17 Remington it is. Started a little research on it and seems that their are not many who make the barrel blanks. It will eventually be a donor Tikka for the project that is going to get rebarreled. What barrel manufacturers are most people going with for these builds? Right now I am looking to use the 25 grain bullets for my hunting needs.
My vote is PAC-NOR. have on in 17-223. Cant count the Yotes. that wish I did not have it. Tommy Mc

9 twist Lilja has worked very well for me shooting 30gr Kindler Golds
Just a heads up, the KGs are coming back in to production. The gentleman who bought Todd's operation is working on getting the 30s up and running.

I heard that and I hope they are as good as Todd's. I heard that he has a very large supply of jackets that he got from Todd so they should be very good

Don Unsmuig, is consider the guru of sub calibers. He makes both barrels and bullets.
He is located in Richmond, VA his phone number is 804 320-1165.

I've used several Green Mountain 17 caliber barrels for Ackley hornet conversions on CZ 527's that shot every bit as well as the name brand barrels used for the same caliber.

I used a bunch of Lothar Walther several years ago during a small caliber kick. They always shot incredibly well, and probably at a bit better price than others mentioned. I’ve also used several Shilen and they also shot well.
I can testify to this! I received one of Matt's AR-17s with an 18-inch Lothar Walther bbl and it's quite accurate. So Butch, would that be a Lopar?
