Got my dads old 25-35 Winchester. The action seems a little bit rough to me, I dont have any experience or knowledge on what can be done to make it smoother. Any go to gunsmiths come to mind for an action job?

I am not a gun smith but have had lever actions for 50 years. Lever actions are pretty simple; things that make them rough to operate is old gummed up oil, rust and general gunk build-up. Disassemble, thoroughly clean and light coat of oil. Feel with your fingers the groves the bolt slides in for any tough spots. I have used crocus cloth to polish out the rough spots even on new guns. Make sur the bolt and trigger housing and parts are cleaned as well.
