I am not a gun smith but have had lever actions for 50 years. Lever actions are pretty simple; things that make them rough to operate is old gummed up oil, rust and general gunk build-up. Disassemble, thoroughly clean and light coat of oil. Feel with your fingers the groves the bolt slides in for any tough spots. I have used crocus cloth to polish out the rough spots even on new guns. Make sur the bolt and trigger housing and parts are cleaned as well.Got my dads old 25-35 Winchester. The action seems a little bit rough to me, I dont have any experience or knowledge on what can be done to make it smoother. Any go to gunsmiths come to mind for an action job?
