who is the best stock man around?

Why don't you do it yourself? Let Tom supervise........ jim
Jim,
Not try to play dumb here but Tom Meredith or Tom Mousel and I have done my own before but I want this thing to be a winner and I work or at least I am gone from my house going to and coming from work 16 hours per day on top of that I run 3K+ acres and feeding my cattle right now so my time is very thin, I only sleep about two hours a day as it is. Mousel is only a 8 hour drive for me I have no Idea how long to Meredith's place? I am not against doing it, I took some of your advise on my 6brx's and did real well last year ;)
Wayne.

Wayne- Tom Meredith is in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There may be others as good as Tom, but I doubt you'll find anyone better ;)

JRS,
Thank you sir, I was going to call Tom today but at home I don't have much time for computer or phone so I am on my way out the door now but I am going to call him for sure, going there is just out of the question this time of year for me though,..thanks.
Wayne.

For my "good" stuff, TM is the place to go. My hunting things I do, but there's never a question on Tom's work when winning is the ultimate goal. Plus, his line typically isn't very long.

With you being already set up bag wise, I wouldn't deviate from the ST-1000.

Alf,
I hadn't thought of that, the bag issue I mean, your right though I have got that part working pretty well, I think I still have my setup for a MBR but definitely something worth thinking about so thanks for pointing that out ;)

Wayne,

the ones Leo gets out of Minnesota are mbr style but have a 3/4" flat in the *** like the st... never used one myself, others have, talk to them.

Tom

Oh thanks for reminding me I need to call Leo tonight, I will ask him what I should do, I didn't order any barrels because I wanted to wait until I talked to Leo, my wife is going to have a hemerage but I think I may order a half dozen of them, we will see I guess, I really liked the way my MBR fit me but it was fiberglass and I definitely want wood, preferably one Like Lonnie A has.
Wayne.

Tom, Just got off the phone with the best stock man in the country,...He is going to call Knapp in the morning and he is going to call Lawrence or who ever they are now and see if they have any tubes, I am calling Bruno's and Savage Guy if I can find his number and see what I can get lined up and I am calling Kiff first thing in the a.m this is going to happen, I need to get dies coming, that may be the hard part, thanks for all your help I think this is all going to start coming together now. I hope I can get the dies as I don't really want to run the 6BRX again this year but I will if I have too, I may also build a true heavy and I am not sure what to build there I am stuck this year with a .308 bolt face I might call Mel and see if he would sell me his .300wsm and setup for it, he talked like he might last year.
Wayne.

26" won't work at 1K ?....tell that to your heavy gun, or at least your old heavy gun!!! Do you mean John that we shoot with? I am not scared of a 27" tube, I am going to try to purchase several anyway. If I can afford it that is. I have to keep in mind I want a good scale setup this year.

Wayne,

I will call him tomorrow, and just give him cash. you can square up with me...unless you just want me to chamber it here and have Jack crown it with his hacksaw.

Tom

Thank you Tom, I will call you tomorrow or I p.m'ed you my numbers as well but I would rather it be on my dime and find out what I owe you and we can go from there, now I owe you big time!!! again Thank you.

Wayne,

it's my pleasure to be able to win your entry fees yet another season hahaha!

Tom

ps, I think you have officially hijacked your own thread

I was thinking the same thing just about two posts ago LOL well someone can hollar at me for it I guess, I am so happy right now I just won't even care ;)
Wayne.

Wayne, You can take the time to do it right, get it straight and it will track better. 26" ain't short if you use the right powder in a Dasher or the little one Tom is playing with ;)......jim

Jim,
Yea I know he is just goofing around, I will get that barrel and I had a p.m from a member that has quite a few barrels so I will get a hold of him later today also. Yes I plan on making it straight that is why I was looking for a great stock guy. I think because of this single thread I have just about built my whole rifle except for the trigger and scope and I have a brand new 12X42 nf still in the box and another one on my old 17lb. so really all I need now is a new Jewel ;)
Wayne.

Speaking of stocks, I will take this time to highjack your thread a bit if you don't mind Wayne :)

I finally got a little paint on my 1K BR stock for this year. Pictures don't really show it very well because lighting is bad and I've never been called a "photographer" ;) It's actually a high metal flake metallic silver on the fore end that fades into a "gunmetal" silver in the rear. Tribal art is a really high metal flake metallic blue. Still has another full day of curing time before I put a high gloss clear coat on it.

It definitely looks a lot better in the sunshine where the metal flake paint really shines.

Brandon,
You cant hi jack my thread I already did that, now it is just a b.s thread hahaha!! Sunshine????? where Montana must be different then here real crappy out for days!! Beautiful stock my photographic friend, if it shoots as good as it looks I might as well not go ;)

Tom,
That sounds great, I am just stopping back in the house for a minute, I will give Randy a call and thank you very much for picking up the barrel, I have had a couple more p.m's on barrels so I will pick a few more up, I can't buy 20 or so like Boyer does but I want to buy 5 or 6 and see if one isn't better then the rest, speaking of rests I need to call Randolph Machine and get a new top for my rest there was some discussion as to weather mine was legal so I will just get the std. top for it and take all the guess work out when I shoot my first world record this year hahaha!!! I will call you later tonight if you want and visit some and make arrangements to pay you back ;)
Wayne.

Wayne,

You don't need 20, i have never had one that wouldn't shoot...some girls need more spooning than others is all.

Tom

Tom,
That is good to know,......I got two reams coming from Kiff, the DX at 1.555 .269 neck and a .114 fb also I am going to chamber my heavy in a long Dasher actually calling it a Dasher Extreme using a creedmoor case.269 neck also,..I need to see if your brother also got me a barrel, I have two guy's I need to call tonight that have tubes in stock, called Randy and he will have to get back to me on the bullets he may not have enough cores for the ammount I want but he isn't sure right now, I am really getting excited about these builds, got my new rest top on it's way, need to order a bag for it,..I guess a Edgewood anyway I will talk to you a little later I hope.

Anrew,
I appreciate that but I have a couple st-1000 stocks I was really looking for a man to fit and finish my stock, I really think I am going to go with a MBR style stock, the st-1000 rides to low for me, I found that I still have my bag setup for the MBR so I think that is the route I will go, not set in stone yet though. thanks for the nice picture ;)
Wayne.
