who is the best stock man around?

Hey fella's I am thinking of building another 1K yard 17lb. rifle for 1k bench rest use. I guess I really have two questions, I have a couple ST-1000's that I like pretty well but was thinking of a MBR instead for this build, I will be chambering it in 6brx, what stock would you all recommend and who is the best stock man around? Would you screw? Glue? or screw and Glue the barreled action? I guess I should have started about three different threads here but I imagine you will be able to help me as you always do,..thanks in advance for all your input guy"s

Very happy with recent stock work done by Tom Meredith. Tom bedded a Stiller Viper Drop-port in a ST1000 Shehane Fiberglass Stock, adding weight in the process. He also fitted a very nice aluminum buttplate. Can't complain how the gun shoots now. Here is result from a quick function test after we bolted the rifle back together and fitted a scope.

Thank you for the input, I saw this group of yours the other day on another thread, very impressive! I think this is close to the exactly what I want unfortunately Jerry hasn't completed any aluminum Vipers in over three years I think, I did talk to Russ today and he has some P-1000's with dual port in stock may go that route also Bat is only about 100 miles from where I live and I already have a couple and really like them,...I will give Tom a call though I have been steadily reading nothing but good things about his work,..thanks again Paul and enjoy your new build

I dont remember where he is loacted. but i have one of his short range stocks and all i can say is i'm runined from anything else.. if you can find someone close to you who has one and can get behind one and shoot it . my personal opinion is nothing comes close. I bought a new used one, of one of his older patterns that was intleted for a farley action, so i decided to fit one of my action in it and block sand the epoxy finish off to try and make it look nice ect, well it was He*l , all i can say is wow are they built. no wonder they shoot so well. so anyhow i have it about ready to glue my action in. it's a 6 Dasher. so i'm building a weight system for the but stock. so this is going to be a 600/1000 light gun. but he does make a long range stock also. @$1300.00 and around 5 months to have one built. so im going to use this one i have untill i can spring for a new one and i wont be in a hurry since i have this one shooting. the fellow i bought the stock from is on this site and i think he had or has another one for sale. which reminds me as soon as i can get to the store in need to get a gift card so i can make a donation to the site.

If you're talking about fitting and bedding, you have a few great choices. Carl Bernoski, Tom Meredith, Chad Dixon. If you want the whole shebang put together, you might as well get in line and have the best do it for you. Al Warner

I called Russ today and still no Vipers so it's a Bat or P-1000 I guess, I had decided not to compete this year but I got the bug bad again so I guess it's full steam ahead, but he told me to get it to him early and this isn't really early that is why the question, I don't want to ask him if it's going to put stress on him to try and get it done,..what do you think, I am calling Lonnie in a few I guess I will get his number from Lonnie.

I visited with Lonnie for over a hour so it's almost 11 in Montana so I will call him tomorrow, and thanks, you all know I know who the best is I just thought it would be too late to ask him. Cody I am sorry you couldn't make the last shoot last year but I am looking forward in seeing you this spring. I am going to at least build a new 17 and probably a new heavy as well, Tom What barrel do you think, I was looking at Brunos, they don't have any # 8's but they have some 1
#17 and #18 that will finish .875 and .900 at the muzzle, those should make weight won't they? I will call Leo and maybe John Knapp tomorrow and thanks again!

Yes I remember you cut back a couple inches from where we were finishing them and I will do the same with my new build, I will call Bruno tomorrow and order 4 or 5 barrels I think and if he don't have them I will try Savage Guy, thanks for the tip, I did know that but forgot, I haven't been on this forum much the last 8 months or so, but I am back for now,..thanks again

Roy is a great shooter(100-200group&Score also) his stocks are used by world class group and score shooters.I also see guys shooting his stocks in the 600yrd competition circle.He is a very meticulous guy who pays attention to tracking and vibration effects. Terry does very nice work. I have one of his stocks on a BAT DS BR rifle, and I am very happy with it.

+1 for Tom Meredith. James PS- I shoot a switch barrel rifle that has a Leonard stock, stocked by Terry. However, I don't think he works on stocks other than his own. Good shooting.
