Who is shooting the 6mm GT?

When my current 6mm Creedmoor barrel dies, I'm strongly considering switching to a 6mm GT for PRS and steel. I've also been considering putting together an F-Open rifle for midrange for my wife to use.

Would a 6mm GT do well in both disciplines and be easy to tune as a 6mm Dasher? The GT is appealing because it would use standard magazines I already have for the PRS rifle. I'd like to buy one reamer and one set of dies to use for both. Is this viable or will I be chasing my tail?

I have a GT, but not a dasher. I'd imagine if you're happy with a Dasher, you're only losing money by making a switch to the GT, they're very close, just keep going with the Dasher.

The GT is great for PRS and Steel matches.

i use the a gt in br, and just started in f-open. im still learning
only 1 600ys and 1 1k match so far.
best i have managed is a 196 at 600, and 189 at 1k

it can hold under 3" 5rd in br at 600.
pushing 108gr bt @ 2950 over 34gr varget

Right now I don't have either one, I have a 6 Creedmoor, hoping to switch to something that is easier on barrels.

I have one or two that I adore. I shoot 105's @ 3030fps - I'm changing one of them over to 6BRA which seems to be able to hit that same node, or close to it.

That's exactly what I have - one is an open gun, one is a "PRS" type setup mag fed.

That's been my curiosity, if two cartridges would be better for the job.

I own both a 6GT barrel and a 6CM barrel for the same rifle.

my GT barrel really does most things well, and is easy to find a load for...but it might not be quite the easy button that a Dasher or BR is reported to be. I've also had feeding issues from my AI AT-X mags. I think a spacer kit might work, but I've yet to test it out.

Is it capable of competing in midrange matches? Yes. Is is going to be the be-all-end-all cartridge for that? No. Is it easier on a barrel than a 6 Creedmoor? Absolutely.

My XC, which is a lot like your Creedmoor is at 2500. It is nearing the end of it's life, but is good enough for my son to shoot steel with.

2500 is reasonable from a GT. I'm just not seeing a ton of barrel life difference between the XC and GT.

Exactly, if your shooting them at the same pressure/speed the little bit less powder in the GT isn't going to make a huge difference in fact id expect the GT to have poorer barrel life being run harder to get to 3050-3100fps the guys are running them with 105s
