Who can make a resizing die?

If I have the reamer, who can make the resizing die? Want one to use with neck bushings in 30 cal.

There are several sources but my choice would be John Whidden ......... reamer specs aren't always as advertised but, a fully fire formed case doesn't lie as far as dimensions are concerned. John would probably prefer a F/F'd case or two for minimum of brass movement during sizing. ............... Call him and ask ;)

Whidden +1 just had a set made from reamer prints. Snapped a picture on my phone. Emailed it to him 6 weeks later I had my dies.

I just talked to Warner Tool Company today. They need 4 to 6 pieces of brass that have been fired twice. They will return the brass with the die.

$546

I've been doing wildcats for years and the best custom die maker is Neil Jones. He makes a bushing bump full length die that is micrometer adjustable and it makes the straightest most consistent brass possible. His price is about $250 and requires 4 pieces of brass that has been fired in your rifle. Because of brass springback, you cannot make a rezsize die from the same reamer you used to make your chamber. The resize reamer must be under the size of your chamber in order to restore proper headspace and size.. John Whidden also does a good job with his dies but does not have a micrometer adjustment. You will have to use die shims or back the die off to adjust shoulder bump. For a hunting gun this works fine, for a competition gun let's just say it could work. Harrells is another place but they only do popular calibers like PPC or Br. Spend the extra money and only cry once!

I tried to find a commercial die and when that didn't work well, bought a Neil Jones set. WELL worth the money. Even better if you have your own chamber reamer, amortize the die cost over a number of barrels.

No offense but that's OUTRAGEOUS pricing! Using that same method of sizing, I've had custom dies made for less than half that price. Call Whidden or Harrel.

The smith can't make a resize die unless he has a sizing die reamer for it.

Ok. So what's different that makes it so much more expensive AND BETTER than what Whidden or Harrel does?

Here is the total newbies take on the WTC dies, I have only seen a friends, my WTC die has not been fabricated yet.

The WTC die is huge compared to the Whidden die which I bought first. The machining, feel and look of the die and parts are incredible. The tolerances are supposed to be within 0.0005. The neck bushing and inserts are huge polished pieces of finely machined steel. You do have to use shims for the head, but I guess this makes for a rock solid adjustment once dialed in, and you dont have to worry about it.

Like I said, Im a newbie and dont know crap about reloading yet, but comparing a WTC die to any other I have seen so far is definitely comparing apples to oranges. It makes the Whidden die look like a toy.

However, Im pretty sure all of the custom dies are capable of making good ammo. In my case Im just starting out and want to "buy once and cry once".
