I have chose 2 of my 243's and going to set a shooting table up in a freshly cut corn field. I have a lead sled DFT to reduce almost all of the recoil. I am very interested to see how they perform at 150-400 yards. The 87vmax will be used for the closer ranges and then the amax will be for longer ranges. Dad is just upset he cant bring the 300 weatherby he carried all his life.
Well we set up tonight on a freshly cut field and like clockwork they started to funnel out. I set dad up at my shooting table with a lead sled dft to reduce the recoil. Topped the sled off with a semi custom Savage 243win with a belly full of 105 amax's. The lead doe turned broadside at 240 yards. I played QB and called out "Let her have it" and the Savage responded. Perfect double lung shot and she went about 30-40 yards then tumbled. The entry was a pin hole hole but the exit was about 1 1/2". This is our first deer taken with a 105 amax and im pleased with its performance.
