Which Type of Sand For A New Front Benchrest Bag?

I have just purchased a new front benchrest bag and was going to fill it with Sinclair Extra Heavy Sand but have heard and read that some shooters like to use a light fine sand, others just use play sand while others use one of the heavy sands. Just thought I would get some opinions on this.

I switched to the Sinclair heavy sand about 5 years ago after discovering that the soft spots in both the front and rear bags was being caused by play sand breaking down into powder.

It's never happened again.

I use garnet sand that is used by sand blasters during metal fabrication. Try a sand blasting business and see if they have any old garnet sand available. I got a big bucket of it for a 6 pack of cold beer. All I had to do was run it through a sieve to remove small pieces of metal. Its heavy stuff and works very well.
