bag sand

other than weight, is there any difference between play sand and heavy sand like that sold by sinclair
the reason i ask, i'm having a problem of sand in my front bag migrating to the left during long shot strings, causing the rifle to cant. must be caused by torque from heavy bullets in a 8 twist barrel
resetting the rifle almost always leads to a larger group & sometimes a flyer

Always used brown "beach" sand, and got tired of it getting pounded into powder, leaving soft spots, in my low eared bunny rear bag,s). Finally broke down and bought the 15# bag of heavy sand from Sinclair. Should have done that a long time ago. It seems denser, and packs tightly in the bag. Great product.:)

while your at it buy the sand funnel from Sinclair too. You can use it to ram rod the sand and pack more in. It, and the heavy sand are worth every penny!

I bought a bag of chromite sand from a local foundry supply. It's nice and heavy and the 50# bag cost less than the 15# bag shipped.

Some shooting discipline rule books require sand in the bags. I have seen plastic pellets/beads like used in the plastic injection molding busness used in the larger bags. The spilled pellets/beads cann't be used over because of conatmination. I also have used lead bird shot. Neither of these will cause dust like sand, cat litter and oildry.
