Any recommendations on a 22 tuner..
I usually shoot with a silencer as its my hunting rig..
The last batch of eley match were awesome with the silencer on..
The latest batch is dire..
I played with the rubber barrel deresonator thing Sunday but its not working for my CZ452..
Need too use up the ammo somehow
I don't think there is one made but you can turn down a Harrell. I do that all the time. I also remark the new zero which is the outer barrel turned in all the way.Does anyone make a light weight tuner {clamp style} under 5 OZ ? Thanks.
How much did they weigh before?I don't think there is one made but you can turn down a Harrell. I do that all the time. I also remark the new zero which is the outer barrel turned in all the way.

about 8.3 ozHow much did they weigh before?
Sure does look niceI can also vouch for Lee's tuner modification. I have bought others since and end up going back to his.
On average they weigh 8-8.5oz. but depends on the bore diameter for the barrel. I just finished one that weighs 4.05 oz. for a HVRT barrel. How much did they weigh before?
Hey Joe, wow it's been 3 years since I did that tuner. glad it is still working for you, are you still at the 35 setting? that was the first one I did for a Vudoo with a 20" barrel and shot off a bipod.I can also vouch for Lee's tuner modification. I have bought others since and end up going back to his.
Keith, the J&L II can be modified to get under 4-oz. I have one about 3.5 oz.I needed to shave some weight so made my own barrel & deleted the detent. I’ve shaved Harrell’s & left it also. In my case it did as intended however the gun was still overweight & the barrel has been average at best.
I’ve also made my own lighter than you can get a Harrell’s. It was an interference fit with glue. Similar to the 2nd photo & it also worked but again, the barrel/ammo combination has never been found.
I’ve since went with a John…W stock, 900 Benchmark, & normal Harrell’s & haven’t revisited it.

I go by how it shoots bare barrel first. very little vertical and I go with less weight. first target no tuner. What are the indications that a guy needs a lighter tuner ... or needs to add weight to his tuner. I have a standard Harrell and the weight set. Occassionally I don't feel the tuner/ammo combo are quite there and I add weight and it is an improvement.
I have two Harrells so I could remove some weight from one of the 'bells' and leave one original. Any comments/recommendations.
I can't answer your question regarding when to add or subtract weight other than the one example I had as to needing to shave weight everywhere I could. I've also tried weights & bloop tubes over the years with very little success. Some, but nothing that repeated on another outing. What are the indications that a guy needs a lighter tuner ... or needs to add weight to his tuner. I have a standard Harrell and the weight set. But I can add this. I'm going to admit that I am somewhat stubborn, lol, & at some point several rifles ago came across my rifle shooting nice groups with a std. Harrell's set on 166. So whenever I've changed rifles, swapped barrels, tuners, etc I've always started at 160 & worked out instead of doing the Hopewell method. You will ALWAYS find a small group you can get lured into liking in EVERY revolution on ANY tuner, including light tuners, or screwing everything on there you can imagine.
I finally got sick of the inconsistencies I was seeing on my last build which shot extremely well, most of the time, but not all. I would pretty constantly keep adjusting the tuner on any given day, as I pretty much always have until I stumbled across a discussion on cf tuning where Mike Ezell showed what I call a sine wave test. I don't think he calls it that,(please correct me Mike), but thats what I call it.
What I had been doing is settling on the smallest, tightest, groups when adjusting in or out & having that be my baseline. when I finally revisited my setting to see where I was as to the top or bottom of this wave I found I was near the bottom. Mike's test is nothing new or something that hasn't been discussed as to being sure you're on the top of the wave. Its just something I don't think I'd ever paid attention too or as mentioned just got snookered into small groups somewhere else in the wave. Which you will see several nice groups form throughout the wave.
Having doing so has been a game changer for me regarding the consistency of this rifle. Now I pretty much never adjust it, which for me is a huge change to the point its almost boring, lol.
I'm sorry for the long winded response but if your rifle is capable of very small groups, just not all the time, I'd encourage you to try this. It may be the game changer you're looking for.
Thank You Mike!!,
Keith
Thanks Doc, never heard that other than Lee has always mentioned screwing his in past the 0 setting. Admittedly, I started at 150 & worked out & only saw the wave's 2 tops. I like the latter 188 setting initially the best but found 185 to be better. I may revisit it yet again, out of curiosity on a lowest setting but am pretty happy where I'm at with this one. Its the most consistent heavy rifle I've ever had thats allowed me to accomplish a goal I've had of shooting 3000 in UL, but more importantly when I have traveled elsewhere being Salem, NY & Luray I haven't wanted to touch the tuner at all. That has never happened especially indoors. Also, although I don't have a large sample size it doesn't seem to be too ammo fussy, within reason.Keith,
Here at Kettlefoot, i have heard some say, that when tuning, they liked the node that was closest to the barrel.
Keith, sounds like you are at the setting for that combo. being less ammo sensitive is a sign exit timing is correct. if it will also shoot under different conditions then you are at 100%Thanks Doc, never heard that other than Lee has always mentioned screwing his in past the 0 setting. Oh, I think you know about them Lee to be fair & yes, I've heard you & others mention being on top of the exit for quite some time. Why I never applied it I have no idea other than as mentioned, I'm stubborn I guess. That & its real easy to see those nice groups at the wrong setting & settle on them.I don't know about sine waves and nodes but have always said you want the bullet to exit at the peak rise or highest point the barrel is at. IME one indication of a tuned barrel is the very first clean /cold bore shot is almost always high right about 1'o-clock.
