which scope??

I need a little advice from some of you that have experience in these two scopes.

IOR Valdada 9-36x56 Long Range Target or 8-32 Night Force 8-32NXS.

I have had a NF 8-32 for several years with-0-issues. Never looked through an IOR so I’m looking for advice. If both scopes were the same $$$, which one would you pick and why. Thanks in advance,

Lloyd

I've never looked through the IOR and wouldn't be surprised if it had better glass. But the reliability of the NSX and the ability to get it repaired if there ever is a problem would steer me in that direction. Having to send a scope back to an Eastern block country for repair or Idaho...

I've had both. Better glass in the IOR, and I love the mp8 reticle. NF will be more reliable. Check the travel on the IOR, it may be limiting for LR work.

Well, its a sample size of one, but my 9-36 started moving the reticle when using the side focus after several years of ownership. Val sent me a new one.

There were guys on here complaining of a year or more and they still didn't get their scope back. It was not just one guy either. Matt

What's your purpose for the scope? The old 4x mag range is outdatted. Better options out there than those two scopes that will give you a wider mag range and more elevation adjustment with just as good or better glass.

It might be outdated but they still sell alot of them. More long range records have fallen with Nightforce then all others combined. In 50 caliber shooting, it is one of the few scopes that will hold up to a clamshell brake. Look at the firing line at a 50 cal shoot and tell me what you see. There is a reason for that. Also tell me what company supports shoots and the shooting sport the way Nightforce does. Matt

True. They are amazing for supporting the shooting world. Not knocking NF at all. They've certainly earned theit respect and following. I just wish they would update their NXS line. Maybe put some new ED glass in them. Costs over $3K for any NF scope that gives better features/adjustment/glass over the NXS. I got excited with the news of the more affordable SHV line, but was a little disappointed when I saw the highest mag offering was only 5-20x (still 4x). Why not 5-25x??? Would have been so much better.

1,000 prone comp.

Why not the NF 12-42 BR then? Even cheaper than the 8-32 NXS and more mag for 1K. Also a proven winner in competition for many years now.

But if you were to consider another brand, I would suggest the 5-50x56 Trijicon. 34mm tube, 100 MOA of elevation and really nice Japanese ED glass for only $1700. Crazy versatile mag range and just as solid as NF too. And you don't have to pay extra for the zero stop. Comes standard on the Trijicon.

They're smart enough to not compete against their own product lines.

Valdada has a service center right here in the U.S.
