Which scope

The main question is do you want to win? So you by the best bullets or seconds? spend all that money on loading, travel, lodging and worry about the price of a scope? You can buy a NXS from Bruno for 1650.00. Two things you need a good barrel and a proven scope....... jim

Money isn't the issue, I really didn't mean to start a Chevy Ford fight. Just was looking for any idiosyncrasies between the two. I think they are A and A+ and depending on the need I am not sure which one always wins. Thanks for the input I think I made my choice.

For whatever reason the reality is that most folks who purchase the Sightron do so as a cheaper alternative to the NF. Is a NF better, I don't know, but they are perceived as being so.

Why not a March?
because I have a disease, I hate turning that power knob down from max and with a 60 and 80 power option I would be tempted. Honestly I owed a couple sightrons and bought my first NF shortly after. I would have never thought the Sightron would be a close competitor to the NF but they are nice and I do see why people buy them over the $$$$.
I can't see spending more than 2K on a scope for what I do just don't think I could do it justice.

I looked at a lot of scopes at 1000 yds. and is very hard to beat a NF BR. or NXS. Sightron is ok but no cigar and they cost 1000.00 now and the weight is up to 30 oz........ jim

Scope weight is not an issue if your shooting F open at 22 pounds. I've added weight trying to get up to wieght
I've had the Sightron 10x60, for the money good scope, the tracking not so good. I also have the NF Br and the new NF competition they are very nice scopes and I personally think the BR is about as good as the new competition. They should have made the comp scope objective 56mm and it would have blown the socks off the Br and the March, just MHO.
After you get done fooling around with all the Sightron's and NF take a look through a Schmidt & Bender and you'll really see what a piece of great glass is suppose to look like, again MHO. Oh, and do this when the mirage is really bad so bad you have to turn your Sightron and NF down to 20 power to see the 10 ring then take a look at the S&B and crank it up to 35/45 power and take a look at the 10 ring. Again, just my opinion.

If you don't shoot free recoil or fast you should be fine. Be aware of the short and very critical eye relief, that is why i sold mine......... jim

I don't free recoil. I will take it out this after noon and shoot up some brass I need to fire form we will see how I like it.

Mine shot well but the other minus was the power, i had both on the bench side by side with my NXS and i had the comp. set at 45 and the NXS at 42 and the image was a lot smaller in the comp. i had to go to almost 50 power to equal the image size of the NXS. So one is over rated or one is under rated. The critical eye relief killed me at 1K...... jim

I took a bunch of scopes and guns today for my test. IMHO the competition crushed the BR and the SIII.
Glass wasnt even close even agains my nxs the comp had the clear edge. The field of view was small on 55 but that isnt a huge problem for me. I also dont free recoil the gun so the eye relief while touchy wasnt a big deal. What shocked me was i was getting almost no mirage. I looked trough all three guns and as they heated up the mirage became challenging with the siii first and the br second. Even when i fired a string of 10 shots the comp didnt give me a problem. Also very impressed by how well it focuses with the side focus. I have more shooting in more condidtions to do before i can be completely convinced but looks VERY promosing!

I hate to rain on your parade, but the mirage is still there and it will affect you the same....... jim
I know its still there just not as bad as my SIII or my BR. It was only one trip out but im telling you for my money i think it was well worth it. 35-40 power will probably be the norm to shoot it on, but having more is nice.

Tom I did say it shot good as my NXS's but i got rid of a BR because of the short eye relief,i got wacked a few times. The NXS is so forgiving and the power thing set the two side by side and you will see the difference in the image the comp.has to have the power set at almost 50 to equal the NXS at 42. Now compare the clarity, I wanted it to work and i sure wasn't going to hold the gun to make it work. The critical eye relief was the final blow, at my age i don't have the time to try to adjust to something that isn't as good as what i have. most people try to justify what they have and adapt to it, i call a spade a spade,if they fix the eye relief problem i would try one again........ jim

I'm confused. Why did you buy a 55X and then plan on keeping it at 35-40X? I would crank it up to 55X and leave it there.

I will shoot it there when mother nature allows. As much as i like to stay up to max power i like to shoot what gives me best chance.
