Which Savage bolt head for LRPV? The left handed version for left port?

Hi. I am changing my LRPV from a 204 to a 6BR.

I think I need need the left handed bolt head since the port is on the left.

Am I correct?

That sounds right, but just to be safe, contact Fred and Lisa at Sharp Shooter Supply, the Savage experts. Tell them what model you have, and they'll make sure you get the right part. You could buy the bolt face to swap out, or you could buy an entire bolt assembly to make barrel swaps quicker if you plan to swap between the 204 and 6BR.

That is exactly correct. I made the mistake of ordering the right hand head for my LRPV, took it to the smith and he suggested I return it. I did so, and got the left bolt head. You need the left because ejection is to the left.

This will be my 1st barrel swap and my 1st 6MM BR rifle.
I do have a Striker with a Shilen 6BR barrel, it is amazing.

Check out www.savageshooters.com They have an excellent forum for Savage stuff. If you have never done the swap (bolt heads or barrels), they have a step-by-step guide available in the paid member section. Some folks don't like it because it is $12/yr, but the info I have gotten there has been priceless. Never swapped a barrel in my life before I found that sight. Now I have a dozen plus barrels for 3 actions and mix and match like tinker toys. Luck, Tim
