Which range finder

I would study the Sig, Leica, and Vortex units.

Occasionally, the folks who want to upgrade let go of ones that are in perfect condition in the for-sale section.

After getting to enjoy your photo-posts, I think those critters are going to like it even less if you do any better!
I'm feeling guilty using a suppressed 17 hornet, sure throws them for a loop, the bullet impact is amazing, that 17 smacking meat is insane for such a tiny round, then the crack downrange, shooting doubles on gh's was unheard of till this, now they come out usually within 15 minutes after a shot, the 204 has the same can ,Liberty titanium, but a little more downrange crack. The farmer yesterday heard the bullet impact at 400 yards in the cut field.THX for the advice.

The only issue I have with rangefinding binos is spending that amount with the electronics having short longevity. What do you do after the rangefinder goes out after 5 years on a $3000+ pair of binos? Are their lifetime warranties on the Euro units for the electronics?

It doesn't have to cost $3k is the answer, and their longevity isn't any shorter than a different rangefinder. YMMV

Leupold doesn't have much warranty on their range finders..............experience speaks!

The rangefinder technology will be outdated in a few years, then you're stuck with your expensive bino/rangefinder and resale value tanks.

A 5 year old rangefinder is way behind whats available today for cabability and features. And a 10 year old rangefinder is a dinosaur.

I’ve hunted prairie dogs for years using my Leica rangefinder and a pair of great binoculars which worked great. This year I purchased a pair of Vortex Fury 5000 binoculars/rangefinder to try. Best thing I’ve done . I now have one LESS item on my Caldwell shooting table. The Vortex Fury work excellent, would not go back to what I was using before.

With latest generation Leica Geovid, you are getting arguably the best glass in any binocular available today with double diopter adjustment. For fun, we can call that about $2.5k worth of glass alone. About the same price as if you were to buy non-RF binos from Leica or Swaro in that same class of glass. So then we could say that for another $500, you are getting one of the best rangefinders on the market. Bluetooth connectivity for custom ballistics programming and automatic drop info, plus a bunch of other features. Ranging thru binos with a wide field of view, 10x magnification, and a breathtaking high-def view is SOOOO much nicer than handheld LRFs. Its like apples and oranges, not even comparable. I don't regret a single penny spent.

If you ever have a problem, you get them fixed. Just because they are out of warranty on the electronics doesn't mean you are screwed. Probably cost some money if it's something major, but Leica is really good about taking care of their customers and the repair might not cost you anything. Anyone who has dealt with Leica customer service knows what I'm talking about. But most likely the Leica will out-live you if you take good care of them.
