Which of these 3 would you recommend for 300/600 yd. Benchrest?

When you blow the shoulder out and straighten the taper, you are fireforming. It is not as dramatic as is the Dasher, but it does need to be shot at least once before it is match ready. Good shooting, James PS- I have shot all three cartridges in 600 yard competition.
The taper is not straighter in a BRA, just shoulder angle changed. I have fireformed 340 Weatherby brass to a 308 Baer in matches and shot 10 shot groups of 4 inches at 1000. I have even won Nationals while fireforming it. That is blowing out taper and changing the Weatherby radius to a 35 degree. Fireforming can be deadly accurate. I even won the 1000 yard Nationals fireforming it. Matt

My mistake. The BRA does have the same body taper as does the 6 BR. However, I still would not trust shooting brass in a match with my 6 BRA that has not had the shoulder blown out to 40 degrees.

When I fireform BRX, I do it in 600 yard matches. It shoots very well. You just have to engage your brain to turn the knobs for 2,775-2,800 fps rounds, rather than 3,000 fps rounds. A couple extra clicks is all it takes, but you have to remember the difference. But if you miss a wind change, doesn't matter how fast they're going, still a 9 or 8. There is no magic in 150-200 fps. Wind reading skills mean so much more. That's why I vote straight 6 BR, and concentrate on your skills.

It doesn't work like that for benchrest. Group takes preference over score. The Dasher or BRA at 1000 yards will easily outshoot the 6 BR. Too many guys tried and learned real quick it doesn't work as good.

One guy had a Dasher and won like crazy. Decided he didnt want to form or mess with a Dasher. He cut it off and rechambered to 6 BR. He didn't win a match that year. Over the winter he rechambered to Dasher and won most matches that year. He is not the only one to do it in BR either. Matt

I have shot the 6 BR (with 26 inch barrel), the Dasher (28 "), and lately the 6 BRA (30")at 600 yards. I could not get the velocity from the 6 BR w/ short barrel so I switched to the Dasher. The Dasher has been real good for me and I have about 20 wins at 600 yards with it (3 different barrels). Late last year I had a 6 BRA chambered and have shot only 2 matches with it. It is a work in progress and I will try my hand with it next Saturday. With its 30 inch barrel, I can equal the velocity of the Dasher....now if I can only equal the accuracy. Good shooting...James

Don't disagree, but poster specifically stated 300/600 yard benchrest. 6 BR rules from 600 in. Translate 8 or 9, with big group/weather report.

To get picky the BRA does slightly reduce taper. The shoulder diam stays the same but its moved forward a small amount.

James, were the 6br imp. tops out at is the middle node, same as the Dasher. The Dasher will go past it but it doesn't shoot there. A 6br will not keep up to the conditions as easy as the improved versions. Will you shoot a 6br case the first time for record or do you fire them first? Same as a 6BR. IMP. Shoot it and it ready to go, and it FF. in a .1 with good bullets. I have two new 28" barrels ready to go in 6BR.IMP. without tuners........ and I will bet 31.1 of H4895 will work in them........ Jim
