Which muzzle threading?

I am getting my barell threaded for my 300 win mag for a brake. I am reading some things that suggest a 3/4 thread instead of the more popular 5/8 to prevent the barell from trumpeting. Is this the way to go and does it limit my muzzle brake options? Thanks!

Depends on the barrel, the speed (heat) generated when machining, how much is being removed...

What’s the muzzle diameter as it is?

Yes, it will limit your options. 5/8 is ubiquitous.

Doesn’t make it better.

Then again, there are way too many 1/4 Minute rifles with 5/8 threads to make it a truly horrible thing.

The OD of the barrel at the muzzle will be one of the main factors in your decision. Leaving enough metal where threaded and having enough for a shoulder if not shouldering at muzzle.

Minimum O.D. of barrels for threading
1/2x28. 0.600. I have a sporter 30 tc with this thread size for suppressor
9/16x24 0.622 I have a sporter 338 win mag with this brake threading
5/8x24 0.725. Most of my varmint barrels have this thread
3/4x20,24 or 28 0.850
