Which Harrells for 6ppc clickers?

#4 is the smallest they make and the one I use. Mine does right at .4395 at the .200 mark and .429 at the shoulder/body junction.

The correct answer is that it depends upon your specific chamber. If your chamber is similar to the bellwether JGS 1045, I think you'll find that in order to size the web sufficiently (if possible) to avoid clickers, especially with stout loads, you're really squeezing the shoulder more than is ideal. That was my experience with everything from a 1.5 to a 4. The rule of thumb is that if you lock the jaws of your calipers on the shoulder of a fired case, the calipers should not slide down any further than 1/8" on a sized case. Mine were sliding down 1/2" or more.

I suggest you take a look at the JLC Precision sizer die sold by Steve Theye at Benchrite.com . Solved all my brass sizing problems.

Good luck!

Just an opinion, (based on an idea I got from Charles Huckabe), there is only one sure fire way to size the entire area of the case web.

you take a standard Redding body die, chuck it up true in a lathe, and using a carbide drill or boring bar, you remove the entire shoulder inside the die, leaving just the tapered body portion of the die. Then face the die untill the bevel on the big end is just about gone.

Using a arbor press, you push the case in so the head is flush with the bottom of the die. You then take a punch that will slip into the cases neck and push the case out.

Then you use your standard sizing die to bump the shoulder

Dies that incorporate a shell holder will always have the problem of not getting the entire web sized down.

As I said, I did not come up with this idea. I started doing this a while back and it does a great job. I have taken 6PPC cases that had developed a severe click and got more life from them using this.6452131A-9600-49E0-B293-7A0878D431A0.jpeg52760AF3-D44E-432D-A2B1-C47EE7CA40EE.jpeg
