Which grip style? Bisley/standard (Ruger 44mag)

I have some 240 plain base coated Keith style bullets as pictured above. I'm pretty sure these are Missouri hi-tek coated. What do y'all recommend for bullets? I'll probably shoot cast but I'm open to jacketed as well. Thinking I might try and take a whitetail with it. Should I push these 240gr coated that hard? I was pondering on maybe something heavier. I use these current in hand bullets in my Taurus 44 and my GP100 44spl. I have 296 powder, unique (not much), herco, titegroup and bullseye. 296 is probably my best powder suited for the heavy hitters. I ran some Sweets through it and got zero copper out. Just some soot and carbon the cylinder face is all it had.

I like the Bisley grip. I have a hunter with the Bisley grip, but my first .44 Mag Superblackhawk was the regular grip. I have no issues with the bisley grip rapping my knuckles, but I think it is more of result of how I grip. I hated the roll of the plow grip, but I love the push of the Bisley…much more like my bulleye pistols, but with more authority

I really like the .44 Redhawk grips too…a bit more refined and easier to shoot than the Bisley grip.

I like the N frame grips and the Redhawk about equal…but I will say that nothing kicks quite like a 329 PD with heavy hardcast. It is like shooting a single shot by the time I can pull my arms back to earth

Just my opinion, but I’ve killed a lot of deer with all of them. I also don’t load many hot loads for my .44s. I’ve yet to recover a bullet, so I just don’t see the need to load many full tilt, maximum loads.

Lets us know what you ultimately decide, and how you like it once you’ve played with it for awhile.

Edit….I see it already followed you home
Regular Redhawk or Super Redhawk? Brian.

Tough to beat a 255 Keith bullet. I have a 260 LBT WFNGC mold that works pretty good too. I’ve killed one whitetail with the 225 Barnes all copper…but my preference is with the leaded kind.

I have a Blackhawk in 45 Colt with a Bisley frame and I hate shooting it with full power loads, my middle finger is almost touching the trigger guard before even firing the gun, a couple shots my finger is turning blue. Keep wanting to change it but too many irons in the fire. I enjoy the regular grips without problems, like the BFR grips even better

I think it varies a lot from person to person, my Dad liked shooting stout loads out of handguns especially Rugers. The Bisley grip bit him a couple times, bad enough it left the knuckle on his middle finger permanently swollen/enlarged. He preferred the standard grip. Myself? I like them both. The Bisley in the lower left hand corner has custom grips with a palm swell that really changed the feel of the gun but I like the standard grip just fine too.

Super Black Hawks are 41 mag, 44 mag and 45 colt. Top Blackhawk is 41 mag, lower left Bisley is 45 colt.

Do you cast your own or purchase from a commercial caster? GC or plain base?
