I'll add my name to those preferring the Bisley, but I'm also on the smashed middle finger list too.
I have a 7.5 blackhawk in .45 Colt, and it had the standard grip frame. A buddy that I shot with had a steel Bisley frame that he stippled, and made grips for, but sold the pistol that he did all that for. That left him with the hammer, trigger, frame, and grips, for a gun he didn't own. We made a deal and I bought them from him. Swapping the parts wasn't too bad, and I like the Bisley for a more consistent grip, similar to what I use with other revolvers. Shooting 250 lead bullets is fun and they're accurate, but they're light loads (relatively speaking). I load the Hornady 250 XTP with Lil Gun and that punishes my middle finger to where, after a few shots, I'm losing focus on my fundamentals. Recoil is straight back, grip stays put in my hand, but the trigger guard takes it's toll on me. That load groups under 2" at 25 yards rested, and I will hunt with it eventually, but sighting in, and any practice, is not fun.
