Which comes first?

I'm about to become schooled on moly coating my bullets. My question is do I meplat trim and point before or after I moly the bullets, or does it even matter?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Lloyd

Id trim and poin before, otherwise you will be taking some of the moly off of the points. I know that the point doesn't contact the rifling but for the sake of uniformity, Id trim and point before moly.

I'd point first and moly last. Other wise you'll end up looking like you've been playing in the coal bin.

Point First then Moly... Same reason as above. Plus there hard to hang onto if your trimming them....with moly on them.

Orrrrrr just load them out of the box and shoot.

Best wishes Lloyd

But Russ,
Then I would need to sell my Juneke machine, concentricity gages, point tool, meplat trimmer, what would I do with all my spare time? OK, I'll beat you to the punchline......shoot more! ;D

Bill,
I'm hopeing to have some results in a few weeks. As soon as my new barrel is chambered up, I'll break it in, and them take it to 1K for testing. I will try and remember to keep you posted.
Thanks,
Lloyd

If you use a vibratory tumbler it doesn't matter. If however you use the rock tumbler style you may find the meplat to be smashed and peened over around the hollow point. For that reason I would molly first.
